    Viator is changing

Bought 2-day pass through Viator bus closed early and posted on website would be closed the next two days for a marathon. This was planned well in advance but Viator still sold us worthless passes. Not a local quick decision to shutdown Viator should have been aware and not sold a 2-day pass.

Response from the operator: Dear Yvette, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about the City Sightseeing Reykjavik Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour. We sincerely apologise for the frustration caused by the service disruption during your visit, especially as you had purchased a two-day pass expecting to have the full opportunity to use it. We understand your disappointment regarding the marathon-related changes and the information available at the time of booking. When major city events affect sightseeing services, clear and timely communication is essential, particularly for visitors planning their itinerary in advance. We regret that the information provided did not allow you to plan your sightseeing as expected. Your comments regarding the communication between the booking platform and the local operation will be taken seriously and shared with the relevant teams so that similar situations can be better managed in the future. We are sorry that your City Sightseeing Reykjavik experience was affected by these circumstances and appreciate you bringing the issue to our attention. Kind regards, The City Sightseeing Reykjavik Team

    Great Start!

This has always been a first for us when we travel. Good way to get "feel for the land". Only problem is making a reservation for Perlan as there is no way to know what time you'll arrive. I notice when you get off there is still a bit of walking involved.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much Marie for sharing your experience! We’re delighted to hear that taking the City Sightseeing Reykjavík tour has become a favourite way for you to get a first feel for a destination. We appreciate your feedback regarding visiting Perlan. We understand that planning a timed reservation can be challenging when exploring the city with a Hop-On Hop-Off service, as journey times may vary depending on traffic and how long you choose to spend at each stop. We also appreciate your comment about the walking distance from the stop and will take your feedback into consideration. Thank you for choosing City Sightseeing Reykjavík, and we hope you continue enjoying this way of discovering new destinations on your travels!

    Reykjavik HopOn/HopOff August 2026

Reykjavik was a more hilly and spread out than we thought it would be so we utilized the HopOn-HopOff make our way around the city to the various sites we wanted to see. Buses were full but we always found seats as they were running enough buses to keep up with the demand. Most helpful thing to know, listen to the audio if you want to know when to get off as they don’t announce stops!

Response from the operator: Dear Paul, Thank you very much for your detailed review! We’re delighted to hear that you found the City Sightseeing Reykjavik Hop-On Hop-Off bus a convenient way to get around the city and visit the sights you wanted to see. It’s great to know that, despite the buses being busy, you were always able to find a seat and that the service frequency was able to keep up with demand. We also appreciate your helpful tip about using the audio commentary to know when to get off at each stop. We hope you enjoyed discovering Reykjavik with City Sightseeing and that we’ll have the pleasure of welcoming you again in the future! Best regards, The City Sightseeing Reykjavik Team

Good way to get a quick city overview

A good way to get an overview of the city. Two criticisms- the frequency of the buses is not great- we had to wait over 45 minutes between buses, conversely because it appeared there was only one bus running- the driver drove very fast and there was not much time to view the sights

Response from the operator: Dear Chris, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your City Sightseeing Reykjavik experience. We’re pleased to hear that you found the tour a good way to get an overview of the city. We’re sorry, however, that the frequency of the buses resulted in a wait of over 45 minutes and that you felt the journey itself was too fast to properly enjoy the sights. We understand how important both a reliable service frequency and a comfortable pace are when exploring Reykjavik. Your comments are very valuable to us, and we have shared them with the relevant local team so they can be taken into consideration when reviewing the service. We hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a more enjoyable City Sightseeing experience on a future visit to Reykjavik. Best regards, The City Sightseeing Reykjavik Team

    +

Prices start at $47 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does City Sightseeing Reykjavik Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour: 24 or 48-Hour take?

    +

Is City Sightseeing Reykjavik Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour: 24 or 48-Hour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.2/5 across 894 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule City Sightseeing Reykjavik Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour: 24 or 48-Hour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is City Sightseeing Reykjavik Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour: 24 or 48-Hour suitable for kids and families?

    +

    +

Around 313 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 1.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does City Sightseeing Reykjavik Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour: 24 or 48-Hour start and how do I get there?

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
