Ok, but confusing

Picked us up right at cruise port. There are 2 different HOHO bus companies, so had to be sure of right bus. It was a Sunday and stop #1 was not where it was supposed to be. We had walked to where we thought it should be but not there. We never did find it, so at last call, we found the other company bus and bought a ticket for it so we could get back to the cruise ship.

Dont bother

Don't bother...poor audio guides and drivers are rude and worthless. We planned to use it for two days and gave up and only used it for 6 hours. We have used hop on/hop off in other towns and enjoyed our experience. Oslo? Not a bit of fun.

Response from the operator: Joyce, thank you for telling us straight and sorry for such a disappointing day. That you planned to use us for two days and gave up after 6 hours says it all, we let you down. The audio should be clear and make the ride enjoyable, not the opposite, and our drivers should make you feel welcome, not that. We know you’ve enjoyed hop on hop off in other cities, so it stings even more that Oslo wasn’t fun at all for you. Could you share which day this was at customer@city-sightseeing.com? We want to check the buses and brief the team again. Thanks again for the honest feedback, The Oslo team

Oslo transportation

We have used hop on-hop off buses at several cities and they do help get you to more points of interest in less time. My only complaint is that they stop running too soon. It would be better if they ran later and more often rather than have 3 different bus lines running similarly operations. One thing to note about Oslo is that it is very walkable and not that large so if you are there more than 1 or 2 days, then you probably won’t need this service.

Response from the operator: Dear Richard, thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and balanced review, we really appreciate it! You are absolutely right, hop on hop off buses are a great way to get to more points of interest in less time, especially on the first day to get your bearings. And thank you for your honest feedback about the schedule. We understand your point about them stopping a bit too soon and about the frequency vs. having 3 lines with similar operations. In Oslo we try to adapt our schedule to the daylight hours and the opening hours of the main attractions, which is why we end a bit earlier than in larger cities, but we have taken note of your suggestion to run later and more often, we will share it with our operations team to see how we can improve. You make a great point too, Oslo is indeed very walkable and not that large, which is part of its charm! For many visitors staying 1-2 days the bus is the perfect way to save time and cover everything, and for those staying longer it's a fantastic way to get the overview on day one. Thank you again for your valuable feedback, it really helps us get better. Sending you a big hug from the whole City Sightseeing Oslo team and we hope to see you again very soon!

Very bad audio guide, almost no information.

Absolutely no information from the audio “guide”, most of the time just about announcing stops. No history, no architecture description. No interesting facts, total waste of time that can be used to tell tourists a lot about the country and the city.

Response from the operator: Dear Customer, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your City Sightseeing Oslo experience. We are sorry to hear that the audio commentary did not provide the level of information you expected during your hop-on hop-off tour. We understand that learning about Oslo’s history, architecture, landmarks and interesting facts is an important part of a sightseeing experience, and we regret that the commentary did not meet your expectations in this regard. Your comments are valuable and will be shared with the relevant local team so the content and overall quality of the audio guide can be reviewed. We hope you will consider giving City Sightseeing Oslo another opportunity in the future, allowing us to provide a more informative and enjoyable way to discover the city.

City Sightseeing Oslo Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oslo.

How much does City Sightseeing Oslo Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $17 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oslo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does City Sightseeing Oslo Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour take?

+

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oslo is not rushed.

Is City Sightseeing Oslo Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.1/5 across 516 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oslo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule City Sightseeing Oslo Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is City Sightseeing Oslo Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book City Sightseeing Oslo Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour?

+

Around 181 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oslo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oslo and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does City Sightseeing Oslo Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oslo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Oslo?

+

On Outty we rank every Oslo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Oslo Highlights Bike Tour, Oslo Nature Walks: Island hopping, Oslo Discovery Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Oslo?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Oslo?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
