Bus delayed more than 1.5 hours and rude service

We had a horrible experience. The buses were delayed - more than 1.5 hours. My friend from Singapore and I had to wait at each stop for more than 1.5 hours. When called, the customer service people had no clue and were rude. Better to go with other bus tours.

    Great value for money

Great way to see highlights straight from the beach to Hollywood and Beverley Hills. Our driver Lynnelle was fab! So helpful! Thankyou

When it says get on at...

When it says get on at any of the stated stops be aware the stops are not marked so not easy to find also some of places that the tour says it goes to be aware you have to get off and walk to most of them

    Main issues I experienced.

Unfortunately, the service did not meet the standards I expected for a sightseeing tour. Here are the main issues I experienced: * The timetable in the app does not work properly. The live bus tracking is unavailable, making it impossible to know when the next bus will arrive. * The buses are not clean inside and appear to be poorly maintained. * The onboard speakers do not work, so passengers cannot hear the tour commentary or important announcements. * Some of the buses are very old and do not have functioning air conditioning, making the journey extremely uncomfortable, especially in the Los Angeles heat. Overall, these issues significantly affected my experience and did not provide the quality of service that was advertised.

Starline does not live up to their competitors.

We provided this information to Starline 2 weeks ago and except for a canned thank you for your feedback, received no response. In late-June 2026 we did the Three Day City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off tour in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the experience. While we have enjoyed wonderful hop-on hop-off tours with other companies in the past, this particular tour did not meet our expectations. We specifically chose Starline Tours because your service included the Downtown LA loop in addition to the Hollywood and Beverly Hills loops, but the overall execution was lacking. Top issues include: - Late buses, or buses not showing up because there were mechanical issues - Substituting passenger vans for double decker buses, which limited visibility and impeding photographs - Buses in poor repair, seating that was ripped, wouldn't recline, or reclined but not would return to a more upright position and headphone jacks that did not work, causing people to move around the bus trying to find a jack that did work - The commentary was sorely lacking, referencing things that were not even on the road the bus was on. The bus also took different routes than the map which made it hard to follow. - Our biggest complaint is that while this tour advertises that you can simply hop off the bus, take photos, get lunch, see an attraction and once you're ready hop back on the bus to continue your journey In other cities where we have used the "hop-on, hop-off" buses, there were usually buses running frequently enough that about every 30 minutes or so, another bus would be there. That was certainly not the case in LA where times between buses ran 45 - 75 minutes, assuming they were not canceled, which did happen in LA. The timing of the bus arrivals and departures at transfer stops should also be better coordinated to ensure that passengers (customers) are then not waiting and wasting significant periods of time. We ended up taking the metro to and from downtown LA out to Santa Monica instead because the "hop-on, hop-off" routes were not synced up time-wise to allow that as an option and return back to our original stop. We also did the Starline Shuttle to the Dodgers Stadium on 19 June. The driver seemed ill prepared for the trip, was unsure of where to go when he got to the stadium, and did not even know that he had to pay to park the shuttle. The driver was not able to drop off passengers close to the stadium, instead, we disembarked after the shuttle parked at the bus parking lot. The driver never counted the number of passengers when we departed for the stadium, so when we got back to the shuttle he asked if everyone was there. The only thing people could say was that they were with who they came with, but no idea of an entire small group was missing. The passenger van itself had issues - the air conditioning was barely working, the check engine light and the low fuel light were both on for the entire round-trip. Everything turned out alright, we did make it both ways, but it was stressful.

City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour with Audio Guide: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Los Angeles.

How much does City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour with Audio Guide cost?

    +

Prices start at $43 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Los Angeles usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour with Audio Guide take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Los Angeles is not rushed.

Is City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour with Audio Guide worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.2/5 across 1,121 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Los Angeles, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour with Audio Guide?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour with Audio Guide suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour with Audio Guide?

    +

Around 392 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Los Angeles can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Los Angeles and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour with Audio Guide start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Los Angeles within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Los Angeles?

    +

Los Angeles rewards travellers who cluster their bookings by geography rather than by theme. Studio tours and Hollywood walks sit inland, the Malibu and Santa Monica coast runs west, and Griffith Observatory and the canyon hikes work best at dawn or dusk. We weight transport clarity in the ranking here: whether pickup is included changes an LA day more than the tour itself. On Outty we rank every Los Angeles experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hollywood Sign 2.5-Hour Tour with Comedians and Their Dogs, Los Angeles Hollywood Sign Hike: Front, Behind, and Expert Guide, Los Angeles Original 90-Minute Walking Tour to The Hollywood Sign. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Los Angeles?

    +

March to May and September to November, for clear air and open canyon roads. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Los Angeles?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
