can't find words to express our disappointment

You cancelled the trip! From lack of numbers 😥 Took our money anyway! 🤔 We are still waiting for the promised refund!😟 And now you have the audacity to ask for feedback. If there was a minus star rating you'd be getting it!

Response from the operator: This tour was booked via an online travel agent Viator / TripAdvisor who accepted the booking and took payment. As we use working farms minimum numbers are required to keep the per person pricing reasonable, we require 4 adults for the tour to operate. As soon as the booking was received the customers were advised that the tour was on standby pending minimum numbers and alternate dates were offered. We have requested Viator to issue a full refund as they hold the money, however this can take up to 5 working days.

Very Dedicated Team

We did the sheep farm visit and a wine tour with Sue. She was just excellent -- really engaging, knowledgeable and friendly. She took tourism as seriously as any other dedicated craftsperson.

Response from the operator: It is great to hear that our driver / guides such as Sue are providing a service that represents our companies values and expecations. Thank you for taking the time to submit your review; these reviews are valuable to us to ensure we are meeting and where possible exceeding our customers expecations. I hope you do have the opportunity to visit this very unique part of the world again at some future date.

I can’t say enough about this tour!

If you want a glimpse into the lives of sheep and cattle farmers, check out this tour. Heather and Trevor were very nice and hospitable. I saw a sheepdog herding sheep, a shearing, and got a history of wool production as well as of the area. Graham, our guide, provided bits of info on the drive there and answered questions both sheep and non-sheep related. 🤓 The scenery was beautiful and we passed through Springfield with its massive Simpsons’ 🍩. A good time was had by all!

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to submit your review. The images you have posted are great. It is rewarding to hear that you enjoyed our Sheep Farm Tour and I hope you have the opportunity to visit this region of New Zealand again at some future date.

Really wonderful tour. We got to see...

Really wonderful tour. We got to see with my wife an authentic sheep farm, the shearing of a sheep, a sheep dog working going out to gather and bring back about 12 sheep and putthing them in a corner, all this done by a farmer only whistling at him. Unbelievable...
afterwards definitively book the jet boat tour which is only about 10 minutes down the road on the Waimakariri river. Great experience too to top off the day!

Was a little dissapointed in this...

Was a little dissapointed in this tour. Basically just visited a man's back yard were there were about two dozen or so sheep. He gave a brief sheering demonstration, we had tea and cookies and left. It lasted about 30-40 minutes or so. I was expecting a little more especially considering the price of the tour.

Christchurch Sheep Farm Visit: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Christchurch.

How much does Christchurch Sheep Farm Visit cost?

+

Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Christchurch usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Christchurch Sheep Farm Visit take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Christchurch is not rushed.

Is Christchurch Sheep Farm Visit worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.8/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Christchurch, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Christchurch Sheep Farm Visit?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 144 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Christchurch Sheep Farm Visit suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Christchurch Sheep Farm Visit?

+

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Christchurch can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Christchurch and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Christchurch Sheep Farm Visit start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Christchurch within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Christchurch?

+

On Outty we rank every Christchurch experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include TranzAlpine Train, Arthur's Pass and Castle Hill Day Trip, Lord of the Rings, Journey to Edoras Day Tour from Christchurch, Mount Cook, Lake Tekapo and Tasman Glacier Tour from Christchurch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Christchurch?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Christchurch?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
