Fun but disorganised
It took over 2 hours to get to the venue because we made several long stops to wait for people and the guide didn’t tell us why we were waiting. We took the cable car and bus to the venue and then a bus back to the city centre. The logistics felt a little chaotic. The wrestling was very amateurish but good fun. I would recommend trying the official events on Thursdays and Sundays at the Cholet arena rather than the other weekday events which take place at Casa de la Cholita which is their training facility.

Underwhelming
They pick you up and we had to pick up others from various locations making your 30 miniute ride over an hour. It was fun but we left early because it was. Old and snack options and drinks ran out before it even started.

Great Fun!
I'd rate this a "must-do" event if you're visiting La Paz. The wrestlers put on an incredible show, and it's certainly a high adrenaline, entertaining night. The women give it their all, and it really is something to see! The bus there and back is well organized, plus you get to see awesome views as you ascend up to El Alto. Your ticket includes the show, popcorn and a drink, a small souvenir, and two bathroom passes, and all for a super reasonable price (I paid only $8). There's also Cholitas wrestling right in La Paz that you can walk over to, so it doesn't take as long. It's at the Mamani Gallery, and I'd recommend both. But do Mamani first, as it's only about 50 people, while the El Alto show is around a thousand people and has a bigger vibe.

Tour company failed to pick us up as scheduled
Unfortunately I cannot review the actual performance because the tour company never picked us up to take us there. Understand that when you book this, you are just buying a ticket - you still have to organize pick up and transport to the performance with the tour company (Mapamundi Go). We booked for March 22nd, but were told after booking that day was unavailable due to elections in Bolivia. We agreed to switch to March 21. We arrived at the meeting location early (they provided a Google maps link and photo, so we're 100% sure we were at the right place). We called and texted the tour company multiple times and ended up leaving after 45 min. of waiting. They eventually apologized but still have not issued a refund.

good booking
Organized and worthwhile tour booking. Was picked up by Carlos at the designated spot and got on the bus that picked up more passengers at another hostel. Bus was comfortable. My group made it early to the event and had our free pickings of seat (VIP seats = ringside, where the cholitas frequently interact with the crowd). Very entertaining show.

Why this scores 58
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cholitas Wrestling/Cholitas Luchadoras: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for La Paz.
How much does Cholitas Wrestling/Cholitas Luchadoras cost?
+
Prices start at $22 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in La Paz usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cholitas Wrestling/Cholitas Luchadoras take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in La Paz is not rushed.
Is Cholitas Wrestling/Cholitas Luchadoras worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 40 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in La Paz, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cholitas Wrestling/Cholitas Luchadoras?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cholitas Wrestling/Cholitas Luchadoras suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 4. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Cholitas Wrestling/Cholitas Luchadoras?
+
Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in La Paz can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in La Paz and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cholitas Wrestling/Cholitas Luchadoras start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central La Paz within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in La Paz?
+
On Outty we rank every La Paz experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Death Road, Bolivia: Mountain Bike Tour on the World's Most Dangerous Road, The World's Most Dangerous Road - Barracuda Biking's Death Road Riding, Death Road Biking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit La Paz?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in La Paz?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
