We offer a combination of attractions! Firstly, the chocolate tour starts with the cultural and biological background of cacao in the world and here in Costa Rica. It further introduces you into the collecting, fermenting, grinding and finally the making of chocolate, the drink of the gods. Secondly, we talk about coffee and its importance for Costa Rica’s economic and cultural development. We have a showroom with important coffee picking instruments and real producing plants to better explain the process of coffee production. We will show you how to make Café-Chorreado, the real Costarican practice of preparing coffee. Finally, we will look at one of the most important aspects of Costarican culture and tradition, the trapiche: A sugar cane-mill. Here we grind sugar cane to extract the juice and make all types of local and delicious candy. This is for sure the sweetest tour in the area. We have recently added a MEDICINAL PLANTS GARDEN TO OUR EXPERIENCE AND A CHOCOLATE FACTORY

Save your time and BOOK THIS NOW
After having read what felt like a million reviews, referring to reddit, tracking down personal accounts, and comparing notes, I finally settled to book this tour through viator. Honestly, I wish I had saved myself the time and just booked this RIGHT AWAY. Our guide, Sergio, was exceptionally knowledgeable, funny, and engaging. My niece and nephew loved the opportunity to try cacao, chocolate, and sugarcane. Much to my surprise, sugarcane is no longer growing in the area of Florida where I grew up, near to where my family now lives, so watching my niece and nephew try sugarcane juice for the first time became a treasured moment of my own. I was hesitant to book this your because I am the only one of our group who is over-the-moon about dark chocolate, bitter flavors, and black coffee. Fortunately, EVERYONE enjoyed the tour, so I wasn't left feeling all that guilty. I would easily recommend this tour. Thank you Sergio and team. :)

Educational & Tasty!
TLDR - Definitely recommend this tour for those wishing to squeeze in some education while trying some local treats! My wife and I booked the chocolate tour through our hotel which conveniently included transportation. Sergio was our guide and you couldn’t have asked for a more engaging host - sharing interesting facts as we walked through the grounds looking at examples of the plants in their natural habitat. He went into the history of cacao, vanilla, coffee, and sugar cane in Central and South America and also specifically, Costa Rica. Of course, the best part was the tasting which included raw coca beans, fresh fruits dipped in chocolate, traditional maya "hot chocolate" but also some coffee and sugar cane beverages! Highly recommend fitting this tour into your itinerary for something a bit different and fun!

Chocolate Tour Standard #1: Transportation Included without Lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Quepos.
How much does Chocolate Tour Standard #1: Transportation Included without Lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $59 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Quepos usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Chocolate Tour Standard #1: Transportation Included without Lunch take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Quepos is not rushed.
Is Chocolate Tour Standard #1: Transportation Included without Lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 187 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Quepos, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Chocolate Tour Standard #1: Transportation Included without Lunch?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Chocolate Tour Standard #1: Transportation Included without Lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Chocolate Tour Standard #1: Transportation Included without Lunch?
+
Around 65 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Quepos can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Quepos and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Chocolate Tour Standard #1: Transportation Included without Lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Quepos within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Quepos?
+
On Outty we rank every Quepos experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Waterfall Adventure, Manuel Antonio Canopy Tour - Longest Twin Zip Line in Central America, Manuel Antonio Park Tour and its Amazing Wildlife and Beaches. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Quepos?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Quepos?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

+
