Tou is the greatest.
I lucked out. This particular night, I was the only person who booked the tour. So I basically had a private tour guide for the price of a group tour. The guide was great. Tou (pronounced Too) made up a custom route just for the two of us. He showed me all of Chiang Mai in a few hours. We had dinner at a real local part of town. When I was done, I felt like I really saw it all and had a great time while doing it.
Response from the operator: We're thrilled you had such an exceptional time exploring Chiang Mai with Tou! It sounds like you truly lucked out with a personalized adventure. Tou is indeed a gem, and we're delighted he crafted such a memorable and comprehensive tour for you, highlighting the best of our city. Thank you for sharing your wonderful feedback!

Great views and peaceful way to see parts of old town!
We had James as our guide. He knew so much history not only about the places we went but the history of Thailand as a country. He was extremely informative. He also took us to a food market where we sampled various grilled skewers and a bit of rice whiskey, which actually was pretty good. James knew all the little back roads and walkways where we rode through town. It was a very nice way to see the town in a more relaxed and quiet manner. The actual bike riding was very easy; if you know how to ride a bike, you can do this tour.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your tour with James. It’s wonderful to know that his deep knowledge of Thai history and local culture added so much value to your day. Exploring hidden back roads, sampling local delicacies, and experiencing town life in a relaxed way is exactly the kind of authentic adventure we aim to provide. We’re also glad to hear that the bike ride was enjoyable and accessible—it’s a great way to take in the sights at a comfortable pace. Thank you again for joining us, and we hope to welcome you on another journey soon!

Bike tour is the right tour!
We loved our experience. Our guide Pham (spelling?) was amazing. Knowledge and friendly and interested in getting to know us. I thought the best guide we’ve had in Thailand on this trip. All the stops were great and these were some of our favorite temples we’ve seen. Great food too! Would definitely recommend this tour.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that you loved your experience and that the tour became a highlight of your trip. We're especially happy to know that Pham made such a positive impression—he’ll be delighted to hear your feedback! It’s wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the temple visits and the food as well. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again on another adventure in the future.

Why this scores 78
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Chiang Mai: Private Historic Old City Bike Tour - Night: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chiang Mai.
How much does Chiang Mai: Private Historic Old City Bike Tour - Night cost?
+
Prices start at $71 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chiang Mai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Chiang Mai: Private Historic Old City Bike Tour - Night take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chiang Mai is not rushed.
Is Chiang Mai: Private Historic Old City Bike Tour - Night worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 73 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Chiang Mai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Chiang Mai: Private Historic Old City Bike Tour - Night?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Chiang Mai: Private Historic Old City Bike Tour - Night suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Chiang Mai: Private Historic Old City Bike Tour - Night?
+
Around 26 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chiang Mai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chiang Mai and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Chiang Mai: Private Historic Old City Bike Tour - Night start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chiang Mai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Chiang Mai?
+
On Outty we rank every Chiang Mai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half-Day Thai Cooking Class at Organic Farm in Chiang Mai, Full Day Thai Cooking at Farm (Chiang Mai), Thai and Akha Cooking Class in Chiang Mai. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Chiang Mai?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Chiang Mai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
