Challenging but so so worth it!!!
I had such a great experience with my guide Aidan!! I booked by myself and when he picked me up it turned out I was the only one to sign up so it was just me and him, but he made the whole thing really fun by making jokes and good conversation the whole time. He also mentioned that the “typical” trail was closed because it is the rainy season and said that the route we would be taking was slightly shorter but more challenging. He was definitely right about that part, the hike only about 6.5 miles but was very steep and quite difficult (for someone who is fairly active and would consider themself an intermediate-level hiker), but he was very patient and made the whole thing enjoyable (we completed it in about 3.25 hours). The trail was pretty quiet, did not feel like a tourist area, the views from the top were well worth it and I would 100% recommend! Only caveat is that my initial booking was cancelled the night before and I wasn’t able to reschedule for 2 more weeks, if I hadn’t been staying in Chiang Mai that long I would have missed out on it entirely.

Easy Hiking, Good views, Great company!
This was an epic tour! Easy hike, cool viewpoints and great company. Our small group was led by Ai, who was funny and very personable! He made it an even more pleasant experience. By chance, we happen to have a great group which made the day just perfect! Highly recommend this tour!

Beautiful hike and great guide!
Wow this was an amazing hike ! It was definitely hard - over 3000 ft elevation gain and about 6-7 miles distance - but split up in sections which helped. We visited 2 temples plus the Karen village. Had an excellent lunch plus coffee and snacks (coffee and snacks at your own expense). Beautiful overlooks and scenery! The guide was great and the lunch was so good ! Highly recommended but not for beginner hikers.

Amazing
During my short stay in Chiang Mai, I managed to use the company's services twice, specifically hiking and kayaking. Unfortunately, I didn't have time for biking, which will be a reason to come back again. The adventures were interesting and full of emotions. The guides are professionals in their field and it's easy to find a common language with them. In particular, I want to mention the guides Mr. A and his colleagues Mr. Bass and Mr. Golf. Highly recommended

Great experience
I really enjoyed this and highly recommend. Our journey was roughly 4.5km up to the main Temple where we spent around an hour walking around and having lunch, and then 5km to see the three waterfalls. All in all it took us around 5 hours and we went at a decent pace. This experience will be hard work, lots of steep uphill and downhill bits so make sure you where proper shoes and would recommend trousers as when you get near the waterfalls you’ll see mosquitos. It’s definitely worth it as the second half of the hike we barely saw anyone else. The guide was great! Very knowledgable and even found us a few plants we could eat on the way. 100% recommend doing but go into it knowing it’ll be hard work

Why this scores 75
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Chiang Mai: Doi Suthep Summit Trek – 7 Hour Pure Hiking Adventure: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chiang Mai.
How much does Chiang Mai: Doi Suthep Summit Trek – 7 Hour Pure Hiking Adventure cost?
+
Prices start at $78 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chiang Mai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Chiang Mai: Doi Suthep Summit Trek – 7 Hour Pure Hiking Adventure take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chiang Mai is not rushed.
Is Chiang Mai: Doi Suthep Summit Trek – 7 Hour Pure Hiking Adventure worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 28 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Chiang Mai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Chiang Mai: Doi Suthep Summit Trek – 7 Hour Pure Hiking Adventure?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Chiang Mai: Doi Suthep Summit Trek – 7 Hour Pure Hiking Adventure suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Chiang Mai: Doi Suthep Summit Trek – 7 Hour Pure Hiking Adventure?
+
Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chiang Mai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chiang Mai and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Chiang Mai: Doi Suthep Summit Trek – 7 Hour Pure Hiking Adventure start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chiang Mai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Chiang Mai?
+
On Outty we rank every Chiang Mai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half-Day Thai Cooking Class at Organic Farm in Chiang Mai, Full Day Thai Cooking at Farm (Chiang Mai), Thai and Akha Cooking Class in Chiang Mai. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Chiang Mai?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Chiang Mai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
