Amazing Birding Adventure With Great Guide Subbu
This is the BEST birding trip in Chennai. Subbu is a knowledgeable, funny, and genuinely enthusiastic guide. He is able to identify all the birds in the area just by hearing their call, this allows you to have the very unique experience of learning about the local birding life while simultaneously having a great time birding. He is also knowledgeable about where the birds might be. For example, in my excursion, I wanted to see the Pheasant Tailed Jacana, Subbu swiftly took me to a spot where I could see the bird from a close distance. This allows for a somewhat customized birding experience, something that not many other birding guides can offer. He also will make sure, if you like birds or not, that you have a great time through his sense of humor and great conversations. It is suitable for all ages and I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a birding tour in the Chennai area. We were able to see around 65 species of birds in around two and a half hours. I look forward to coming back to Chennai and doing this tour again.

Great Birding Trip with Subbu
The experience started off by going along the shrubs along the rivers bank and looking for Reed warblers and other smaller birds we then walked around the lake to a more densely forest area, where we spotted weavers and water birds in large numbers it’s suitable for people of all age groups, and anyone that’s interested in burning will love it. There’s no admission fee in the cost to Uber. There is relatively cheap. We were there for around three hours in so close to 70 species of birds. Subbu is a great guide and I’m glad that I did this experience. I will definitely do it again.

FANTASTIC
It was an excellent time! My mother is an avid birder and this was the best birthday gift I could have given her. Pick up and drop was smooth. Our guide, Mr Sankar, was absolutely brilliant and we spotted many beautiful birds and heard even more. My favourites were the adorable pied kingfishers.Sankar sir is so knowledgable and thanks to him we were able to identify some birds just by sound at the end of the trip.He set up the scope like a pro everytime too which meant we saw close ups of so many wonderful birds, even the shy ones. Thank you so much this was a beautiful gift that my mom really enjoyed and in general, a really lovely time.

Outstanding afternoon of birding in Chennai, India
I had a wonderful full afternoon of birding with guide “Subbu” in mid-March 2026. I’d had trouble making transit arrangements and only at the last minute was able to seek out a birding tour in Chennai. Fortunately, my desire for an outing was able to be accommodated. Due to the tight timeline, Subbu and I chatted while in transport to identify any specific interests I had. He knew the perfect spot to go. We spotted many new (life) birds for me and Subbu’s keen eyes and superior hearing added to species detected, and also to locating the birds in their habitat. Birding India actually was a secondary activity for me and I brought only small glass (8x28). Consequently, I greatly appreciated Subbu’s superb quality spotting scope which he ably positioned for me to get the best view of the birds. Subbu knew all the birds we saw. One bird that I saw but had not gotten color details correct in the lighting was a mystery unknown… for a short while. A bit later we got a better look with corrected colors/ pattern and that allowed Subbu to easily name the species. Subbu was courteous, knowledgeable, and always worked for me to get the best look and identify the birds. Besides discussions about birds, we had delightful conversations on a wide range of topics. The outing far exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend Subbu for this activity to anyone who has an interest in Indian birds!!! Thank you for making my experience so memorable, Subbu😊🙏

An Excellent Birding Experience
I booked a birding walk through Tripadvisor for myself and my 8-year-old son, and I cannot recommend our host, Subbu, highly enough. Subbu called before the day of the trip to ask what kind of experience we were looking for. I requested a trip tailored specifically for my son, and Subbu delivered spectacularly. My son had a never-ending stream of questions, and Subbu answered every single one with patience and expertise. Subbhu took care of the Admission fee. Subbu took us to three distinct locations, including the Pallikaranai Marshland Park and a unique elevated viewpoint that offered a stunning perspective of the marshland. Some of the memorable birds we spotted were the Indian Pond Heron, Red-wattled Lapwing, Blue-tailed Bee-eaters, Yellow-billed Babblers (cousins to the famous "7 sisters"), Black Drongo (Rettai Vaal Kuruvi), and Asian Koel. Our entire birding experience lasted around 4 hours. We would recommend birding trips with Subbu without any reservations!
