    Dissapointed

Was told it was canceled due to not meeting the minimum number of participants??? I would like a refund!

Response from the operator: Hey Les, We are a bit surprised and disappointed to read this based on our conversation. As stated in the booking details we need a minimum of at least 4 guests to operate the tour and you were the only two booked. While informing you of the cancellation we offered alternate times or a refund. You said you wanted to wait until Tuesday 11/26 to see if there would be another evening tour become available. I apologize that we clearly misunderstood your request to mean you wanted a refund at that time, since this was posted two days before the alternative tour time you expressed interest in. We provided a refund as soon as we knew we would not have an alternate tour. I sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding and I hope you enjoyed your time in Charleston and please let us know if there is any issue with Viator completing the refund process.

    This is it

Cody spun and weaved very interesting and fun tales in between sips of great tasting beer and local pubs. We ducked into small alley ways, nooks and crannies to get to the pubs. Never a dull moment for several hours. The best entertainment in town. Wirth the money....with Cody.

Response from the operator: What a fantastic way to describe your time on the Historic Pubs, Taverns, and Taprooms Tour—thank you! Coby has a true gift for turning history into theater, and we're thrilled you enjoyed the combination of storytelling, hidden corners, and great local beer. It means a lot to hear this was “the best entertainment in town!” Hope to see you on another adventure soon—cheers! 🍻

    Don’t schedule this tour

We were notified the day before that tour might be canceled- that we would be notified the day of at 1:00 if it was. Not receiving notification we were getting ready and i sent an email to be sure and was told - “Sorry forgot to let you know it’s canceled. Vacation spoiler!! No way to run a business and you have to wait 7 days to get your money back.

Response from the operator: Karen, we are terribly disappointed that we were unable to run the tour. We strive to offer reliable and enjoyable experiences, and cancellations are always the last resort. We reached out the day before about your tour’s pending status since you were the only guests and we needed two more to operate. At this time we offered alternative tours and shared how long we could wait the following day for additional bookings before we needed to call it. We sincerely apologize for the delayed notice about the final status. A last-minute group reached out with interest in booking, which would have allowed your tour to run. Regrettably, while waiting to hear back from the interested party, the alert to update you was mistakenly turned off instead of snoozed. Ultimately, there's no excuse for our lapse in communication, and we're taking steps to ensure this doesn't happen again. We hate that a 90-minute delay so thoroughly spoiled your vacation. We immediately submitted a cancellation and refund request to Viator. We recommend reaching out to Viator if you haven't received it within their policy’s stated timeframe.

Extremely enjoyable tour or Pubs and History

Ours was a small group of 6 that was led through a few alleys and streets on short journeys between 3 pubs. At this pubs, historian and beer expert Coby gave previously unknown stories highlighting Charleston history. It was a peaceful, enlightening, and highly enjoyable 3 hours. I’ve been on other pub tours where you were essentially chugging beers rapidly to go to the next pub. NOT THIS! The drinks were sipped leisurely each over 45 minutes or so while llistening to Coby calmly laying out the pertinent history, with food at the 1st and last pubs. I simply do not know how this could have been any better.

Response from the operator: Coby's pub tour sounds like the perfect blend of history and relaxation! We love that you enjoyed the leisurely pace and focus on local stories paired with delicious food. It's definitely not your typical pub crawl! Thanks for highlighting the unique experience.

Charleston's Historic Pubs, Taverns, and Taprooms Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Charleston.

How much does Charleston's Historic Pubs, Taverns, and Taprooms Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $90 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Charleston usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Charleston's Historic Pubs, Taverns, and Taprooms Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Charleston is not rushed.

Is Charleston's Historic Pubs, Taverns, and Taprooms Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 33 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Charleston, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Charleston's Historic Pubs, Taverns, and Taprooms Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Charleston's Historic Pubs, Taverns, and Taprooms Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Charleston's Historic Pubs, Taverns, and Taprooms Tour?

    +

Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Charleston can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Charleston and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Charleston's Historic Pubs, Taverns, and Taprooms Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Charleston within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Charleston?

    +

Charleston's best experiences are small: house museum tours with an architectural historian, Gullah heritage walks, harbour sails at sunset and Lowcountry food crawls through the market district. Plantation day trips vary enormously in how honestly they handle the history, and our ranking factors that in directly. On Outty we rank every Charleston experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Historic Charleston Guided Sightseeing Walking Tour, Charleston historical walking tour with a Professor of History at The Citadel, Charleston Eco Boat Cruise with stop at Morris Island Lighthouse. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Charleston?

    +

March to May and September to November, the two mild shoulder windows. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Charleston?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
