Transfer to Hoi An
Tommy was great to communicate with - clear, quick responses. He was waiting for us when we got off the ship and the transfer to Hoi An was in a comfortable van. We only booked a transfer (no tour) but Tommy gave us lots of tips of things to do and see. On our return Tommy got us close to the ship even though the drop off should have been at the port gate. A great day - thank you Tommy.
Response from the operator: Hi Mr Roger, thank you so much for your support local business after 10 years return to Hội An. I was so happy to welcome you and the group to Hoi An & return the ship on time. It was nice to take you and shared lots of information and tips to Hoi An. Looking forward to welcoming you back one day Tommy

We had an amazing tour despite record flooding!
We were on a cruise that docked in Chan May Port and only had a short amount of time to do a private tour. Unfortunately, there were torrential rains and the area experienced the worst flooding in 60 years. The flooding started the day we toured. Tommy and Destiny were able to negotiate the areas with calmness and efficiency! We were so happy that we cancelled our bus tour arranged through the cruise ship and booked last minute with Tommy Tours. Our first stop was Dragon Bridge in Da Nang for a photo opp. The Han River was starting to rise but not too bad (yet!). We then went to Marble Mountain (it's not really a mountain but an area where marble statues etc are made). We toured a marble sculpture factory (I don't recommend unless you're in the market to buy a sculpture for your house). We then went to the caves and temples which were interesting but the rain was like waterfall coming down the steps that lead to the temple. Our next stop was Hoi An. We tried Banh Mi Phuong which was made famous by Anthony Bourdain. Then began our tour of Hoi An. The ancient village provides subject matter for photographers. Within one hour of our visit, the streets were flooded. Our guide Destiny told us that the flood waters could rise to the roof lines by the evening (turns out that is what happened). Destiny finished up our visit with a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. Tommy safely drove us back to our port. The tour buses from the cruise ship were either cancelled or had to turn back because of the flooding (and no refund!). While the weather was a nightmare, we were able to have a positive experience thanks to Tommy's driving and expertise of the area. His collegue Destiny is an excellent ambassador for Vietnam. She is so knowledgeable of the area and it is because of her that we want to come back to Hoi An and experience more!! Next time, we will try to visit in April (not during the rainy season!).
Response from the operator: Dear Mary, Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback in details with our private tour from Chan May port to Hoi An and return. Even though it was flooded on the tour, we tried our best to show you as much as we could. So glad you had a wonderful day. Tommy

Response from the operator: Dear Mary, Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback in full details after a long day tour with us from Chan May to Da Nang and Hoi An. Unluckily it was bad weather and flooding in Hoi An, raining all the time. We mananged to show you as much as we can and enjoyed the most delicious local food in Hội An. We are glad you had a memorable and fabulous day with us. Looking forward to having you again. Tommy

Excellent tour and guide
We could not fault this tour. Met at the port by our guide Kong and driver Lu. Travelled via Hai Van pass then stopped at Dragon Bridge. The marble mountains were amazing and Kong took great time explaining everything whilst keeping to itinerary. Lunch was excellent a walking tour around Hanoi followed by Coconut coffee then a local show finished the tour. As requested we were back to port 2 hours to gangway. Tommy tours and Kong cannot be faulted from contact on initial booking to the drop off back at port Highly recommended
Response from the operator: Dear Martyn, Thank you so much for your wonderful 5-star review of your Shore Excursion with Tommy Dao Tours! We are delighted to hear that everything went perfectly from the moment you were met at the port by our guide Kong and driver Lu until your timely return to the ship. Traveling over the breathtaking Hải Vân Pass, stopping at Dragon Bridge, and exploring the beautiful Marble Mountains are always highlights, and we’re so pleased you enjoyed each experience. Kong will be very happy to know you appreciated his detailed explanations while keeping everything smoothly on schedule. We understand how important timing is for cruise passengers, so ensuring you were back at port well before gangway time is always our priority. Thank you again for your kind words and strong recommendation. It was truly our pleasure to look after you, and we hope to welcome you back to Central Vietnam in the future! Tommy

Chan May Port: Premium Private tour to Marble Mountains & Hoi An: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hue.
How much does Chan May Port: Premium Private tour to Marble Mountains & Hoi An cost?
+
Prices start at $50 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hue usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Chan May Port: Premium Private tour to Marble Mountains & Hoi An take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hue is not rushed.
Is Chan May Port: Premium Private tour to Marble Mountains & Hoi An worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hue, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Chan May Port: Premium Private tour to Marble Mountains & Hoi An?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Chan May Port: Premium Private tour to Marble Mountains & Hoi An suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Chan May Port: Premium Private tour to Marble Mountains & Hoi An?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hue can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hue and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Chan May Port: Premium Private tour to Marble Mountains & Hoi An start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hue within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hue?
+
On Outty we rank every Hue experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hue city Deluxe Group Tour (Daily Tour-12 pax max), Hai Van Pass Motorbike Private Tour with Mister T Easy Rider, Hai Van Pass Back Roads Motorbike Tour with Mister T Easy Rider. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hue?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hue?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
