Very Disappointing Experience – Not What Was Promised

We chose this catamaran tour because it advertised dolphin sightings and snorkeling, but unfortunately the experience was nothing like what was promised. To start with the positive, the crew was excellent. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and provided great service throughout the trip. They deserve recognition for their professionalism. However, the activities were extremely disappointing. We didn’t see any dolphins, which I understand can never be guaranteed. But what was truly frustrating was the snorkeling experience. There were virtually no fish to see, and we weren’t informed of that until we were already about to get into the water. If the snorkeling conditions are poor or there is little marine life in the area, guests should be told before booking or at least before the activity begins. My son was especially excited about snorkeling, and it ended up being the biggest disappointment of our day. To make matters worse, the catamaran anchored far from the rocky areas where you would normally expect to see marine life. The biggest issue wasn’t that we didn’t see dolphins—it was the gap between what was advertised and what we actually experienced. We left feeling that the tour did not deliver what was promised.

Family catamaran trip

Had a wonderful day. Staff were all incredibly nice and the boat wasn’t too choppy! Nice fruit and lunch while on the trip. Were able to see some dolphins too!

Amazing costal tour of manuel antonio

Amazing tour on the coast line of manuel antonio! We all felt very safe and welcomed by the guides. You also receive a meal and 4 drinks of your choice in the package, which is an absolute steal. There is also one stop for an hour where you can jump off of the boat and use the slide, or even go snorkeling. It was a lot of fun, and shoutout to the guide Sam! Everyone provided great service.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your kind review! We’re pleased to hear that you enjoyed your experience along the Manuel Antonio coastline and that our crew made you feel safe and welcome throughout the tour. We truly appreciate your special mention of Sam. We’ll be sure to share your compliments with him and the rest of the team. Thank you for choosing Ocean King. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back on your next visit to Costa Rica!

Catamaran Ocean King Manuel Antonio: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Quepos.

How much does Catamaran Ocean King Manuel Antonio cost?

+

Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Quepos usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Catamaran Ocean King Manuel Antonio take?

+

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Quepos is not rushed.

Is Catamaran Ocean King Manuel Antonio worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 315 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Quepos, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Catamaran Ocean King Manuel Antonio?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Catamaran Ocean King Manuel Antonio suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Catamaran Ocean King Manuel Antonio?

+

Around 110 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Quepos can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Quepos and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Catamaran Ocean King Manuel Antonio start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Quepos within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Quepos?

+

On Outty we rank every Quepos experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Whitewater Rafting Savegre Class II-III plus Waterfall Manuel Antonio, Manuel Antonio Canopy Tour - Longest Twin Zip Line in Central America, Waterfall Ziplining & Canyoning. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Quepos?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Quepos?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
