Krapina Neanderthal Museum
The new Krapina Neanderthal Museum is located near the world-famous site of the Krapina Neanderthals „Hušnjakovo“, a fact which makes it a unique visiting complex. Krapina Neanderthal Museum is located near the excavation site Hušnjakovo, wherein 1899 the world's largest collection of Neanderthal fossil bones was found. More than nine hundred fossil bones of Neanderthals and numerous fossil remains of Pleistocene animals (woolly rhinoceros, cave bear, wolf, elk, giant deer, and many other ) were found in the cave sandstone deposits. Over a thousand pieces of stone tools were witness to the material culture of Krapina Neanderthals. The site dates back to 125 000 BC and it is one of the most significant paleoanthropological localities worldwide. The Museum's architecture evokes the habitat of the prehistoric man: the semi-cave, the volume, proportions, and the front which are a result of the analysis done on the appearance of the ancient Krapina semi-cave.

Wonderful tour
Really nice trip and a great way to spend the day. Trakošćan Castle is beautiful, and the museum was interesting even though I’m usually not a big fan of museums. Everything was well organized and went smoothly. I would definitely recommend it if you’re staying in Zagreb and want to see something different :)

Amazing tour and great guide Sanja!
Had a great experience on this tour! Highly recommend touring the castle. It is very well done! The Neanderthal museum is also very interesting. Sanja was an amazing guide! Very friendly and was prompt at the pickup location. I really appreciate her being so flexible. We booked with her the night before and it was for only two people but she happily accepted the booking. The weather started taking a turn on the way back and she was kind enough to drop us off at our hotel instead of the normal drop off location so we wouldn’t have to walk back in the rain. Overall, highly recommend booking a tour with her.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your kind review! You were wonderful company and I'm glad you enjoyed the trip. I wish you many more wonderful trips in the future, and that you visit Croatia again! I am here for you! ♥

Trakoscan tour
Very fun and interesting tour. Nice getting to know Croatian history and wine tasting was great as well. The walk around the Trakoscan lake was the best part for me.4

You stood me up with a notice THE PREVIOUS DAY. No visit to castle. Refund what you had charged
You, the company tour operstor. sent me a message with notice that i had to find sb else because the excursion could not be done with only one person THE PREVIOUS DAY. You could have warned me 2 days in advance at least, so i could change my plans. I had to hire a cab to visit the trakoscan castle of Draskovic family, Unique barroque gothic style in east european countries with furniture and paintings still in. (Not in Ljubliana castles, which are empty, only stone walls because they were fortresses. By the way, ..your ticket to PredjamaCastle was not valid at the office of Predjama ONLY TICKTES BOUGHT THERE ARE VALID.... ..AND YOU EVEN DID NOT ANSWER MY MESSAGES ABOUT PITVICE VISIT ON A RAINY DAY! i will never reserve a tour on your company. Refund, pls.
Response from the operator: I am very sorry for your wasted day, but we tried to reach you on the phone number you left. Unfortunately, you did not leave the correct number and did not respond to us. Unfortunately, every traveler is obliged to contact us at least a day before and check the conditions to make sure everything is as scheduled in the program description. You did not call or respond to our message! I think you have confused us with some other agency because you did not book a trip to Plitvice or Predjama Castle with us nor did you contact us about it!

The castle was fabulous. Lots of stairs to get there. The Neanderthal museum was very well done and if you like history, it is a musty. Our guide was amazing. She was informative, friendly, and flexible.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review ... it truly means a lot! The day was just as inspiring and enjoyable for me thanks to your fantastic company, and I’m glad you loved both Krapina and the stunning Trakošćan Castle. Sanja

Why this scores 52
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Castle Trakoscan & Museum of Evolution - HERITAGE SENSATION!!: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Zagreb.
How much does Castle Trakoscan & Museum of Evolution - HERITAGE SENSATION!! cost?
+
Prices start at $154 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Zagreb usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Castle Trakoscan & Museum of Evolution - HERITAGE SENSATION!! take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Zagreb is not rushed.
Is Castle Trakoscan & Museum of Evolution - HERITAGE SENSATION!! worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Zagreb, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Castle Trakoscan & Museum of Evolution - HERITAGE SENSATION!!?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Castle Trakoscan & Museum of Evolution - HERITAGE SENSATION!! suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Castle Trakoscan & Museum of Evolution - HERITAGE SENSATION!!?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Zagreb can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Zagreb and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Castle Trakoscan & Museum of Evolution - HERITAGE SENSATION!! start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Zagreb within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Zagreb?
+
On Outty we rank every Zagreb experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Communism & Croatian Homeland War Tour, Zagreb Highlights: Old Town, WWII tunnels, Funicular & Tastings, Old Zagreb Private Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Zagreb?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Zagreb?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
