I was informed that the...
I was informed that the tour had been canceled only two hours before the scheduled start, via email. Unfortunately, I never received a text notification, and since this trip was booked months in advance, I stood there waiting — assuming the event would go on. There needs to be a better communication system in place that uses both text and email to ensure guests are properly notified of cancellations.
Response from the operator: Hi Carla, thank you for sharing this, and we're genuinely sorry for the stress it caused after planning your trip so far in advance. You're right that a single email isn't enough for something as time-sensitive as a cancellation. We did send the notice by email as soon as we learned the tour couldn't go ahead, but it appears it reached you late due to a connectivity issue on your end that day — which meant the message didn't do what it was meant to do. That's exactly the gap you're pointing out, and it's a fair one: we're working on adding text notifications alongside email and Whatsapp so no guest is left waiting like this again. We also want you to know that our team worked to arrange an alternative on the spot — a private tour with a guide and transportation through another local operator — so you wouldn't be left without any plan for the day.

Outstanding Guide & Impactful Facts
A fantastic tour & guide! We walked to sites & monuments inside the old walled city area & the Getsemani neighborhood. She pointed out the history & brutality of the slave trade, in Cartagena starting in 1540 continuing thru out time. Very thorough & interesting to talk with. She was open to all Questions & comments. Still a very current topic worldwide. Would do this tour again.
Response from the operator: I wanted to take a moment to personally thank you both for choosing to explore the African influence in Cartagena with me. It was an absolute honor to be your guide.

The tour guide never showed up at the meeting point
Nothing I didn’t get a chance to experience it. The tour guide did not show up at the meeting point for the tour at the reporting time.
Response from the operator: Dear Lennox, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the frustration and disappointment this caused you. We looked into what happened and discovered an internal system issue: your booking was unfortunately not confirmed on our platform, which is why our team did not see the reservation and the guide was not assigned to meet you. We pride ourselves on providing seamless experiences, and we are deeply sorry that we failed to do so for you. Please be assured that we have already taken immediate internal measures to fix this system glitch and ensure it never happens again. We would love the opportunity to make this right. Please contact us directly at +57 3023513177 so we can offer a special gesture for your next visit

Best tour in Cartagena!
Dani was an amazing guide! She was so knowledgable, kind and fun. She made the experience a 10/10, you learn so much about the rich history and get to experience so much culture within a short amount of time. If you aren't able to dedicate half a day to go to Palenque, TAKE THIS TOUR!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are thrilled to hear that you had such a fantastic time with Daniela. She is indeed a gem, and we'll make sure to share your kind words with her—she will be so happy to know she made your experience a 10/10. Most importantly, we are delighted that you walked away with a deeper understanding of our Afro-Colombian culture and heritage. For us, it is a mission to share the rich history and vibrant spirit of our community with the world. Your recommendation means everything to us, especially for those looking to experience the essence of Palenque and our history within the city. We hope to see you again in Cartagena! Why this scores 50
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cartagena´s African Legacy: 2 hrs on History, Dance & Tasting: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cartagena.
How much does Cartagena´s African Legacy: 2 hrs on History, Dance & Tasting cost?
+
Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cartagena usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cartagena´s African Legacy: 2 hrs on History, Dance & Tasting take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cartagena is not rushed.
Is Cartagena´s African Legacy: 2 hrs on History, Dance & Tasting worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cartagena, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cartagena´s African Legacy: 2 hrs on History, Dance & Tasting?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cartagena´s African Legacy: 2 hrs on History, Dance & Tasting suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Cartagena´s African Legacy: 2 hrs on History, Dance & Tasting?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cartagena can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cartagena and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cartagena´s African Legacy: 2 hrs on History, Dance & Tasting start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cartagena within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cartagena?
+
On Outty we rank every Cartagena experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Historic Center & Getsemaní Shared Tour in Cartagena, Cartagena VIP Boat Tour: Rosario Islands & Snorkel, Cartagena Cooking Class with Local Chef (Small Group Experience). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cartagena?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cartagena?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
