Tour Through Bazurto Market
Our guide, Mauricio Piedrahita, was punctual and met us at the meeting place. Mauricio was vivacious and a whirlwind, his energy was infectious. The Bazurto Market was a glimpse into everyday life of people living in Cartagena. The market is an iconic institution in Cartagena. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the market. Mauricio even taught us some new salsa moves! Thanks so much Mauricio!!
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear that Mauricio's infectious energy made your tour of Bazurto Market so enjoyable. It's great that you got a true glimpse into everyday life in Cartagena and even learned some new salsa moves! We appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you back for more adventures soon. - Impulse Travel Team

This place smelled horrible, I could barely breathe because the stench was so potent. The area was congested and it was filthy all around. Of course the people were friendly but I would not recommend someone to eat from this area. I did not feel unsafe and I did not have a tour guide. Again the people were beyond friendly but the filth and stench was disturbing.
Response from the operator: We appreciate your feedback. Bazurto Market offers an authentic glimpse into Cartagena's culture, albeit not for everyone. It's renowned for its unique atmosphere and beloved local dishes. We regret it didn't meet your expectations but thank you for experiencing it nonetheless.

Why is this place recomended?
This disgusting place is in the top 10 places to visit in Cartegena! Whichever people advise tourists to go there have NOT been there themselves! It's filthy, dirty, disgusting & one level above being a cesspit! I'm not kidding, I was there today! You will encounter 3rd World surroundings & stand in trash infested streets that smell like a trash can full of 2 week old chicken entrails in mid summer with a healthy dash of rancid salmon to round it off!

You are in good hands!
We’ve just came back from Colombia a week ago, I found Impulse travel here on Tripadvisor. Tatiana organized us an excellent Bazurto market tour, and a privat Aviary tour in Cartagena, also a driver who take us to Museo del Oro, than back to hotel on our last day in Bogota before we flew home. Impulse provide us a worry free, trustworthy, excellent service, so we were in good hands with them. I wish that I could find Tatiana earlier, when we started to organize our two weeks round trip, and use them as our main agency in Colombia, not just for few activities/daytrip. We loved every minute in Colombia, its so divers and beautiful, we definitely want go back to discover more of it. So next time I know, Impulse will be our number one agency to use! Muchas gracias Tatiana/Impulse and Danny for the fantastic service and memories!

Bazurto Market Experience
Bazurto Market Experience was phenomenal. Fernando our guide really knowledgeable about the culture, food, music, history and much more. Taking the local business was in itself a great experience. The kuch that was included is true to the Caribbean/ African style. The coconut Whole fish and coconut rice was exceptional better than any. star French nonsense. The market has everything that you want. Fernando to the te to be detailed and explained everything. From the corner store culture to the reason of braiding hair. I will definitely recommend this tour. They have outdone themselves. This is truly one of the best experiences my wife and I have experienced and we have been to 6 continents and 95 countries and having been to every South American country.

Cartagena Bazurto Market Tour: Authentic Local Flavor: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cartagena.
How much does Cartagena Bazurto Market Tour: Authentic Local Flavor cost?
+
Prices start at $115 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cartagena usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cartagena Bazurto Market Tour: Authentic Local Flavor take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cartagena is not rushed.
Is Cartagena Bazurto Market Tour: Authentic Local Flavor worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cartagena, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cartagena Bazurto Market Tour: Authentic Local Flavor?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cartagena Bazurto Market Tour: Authentic Local Flavor suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 2. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Cartagena Bazurto Market Tour: Authentic Local Flavor?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cartagena can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cartagena and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cartagena Bazurto Market Tour: Authentic Local Flavor start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cartagena within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cartagena?
+
On Outty we rank every Cartagena experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cartagena Antigua & Barrio Getsemani group with audio system, Historic Center & Getsemaní Shared Tour in Cartagena, Cartagena VIP Boat Tour: Rosario Islands & Snorkel. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cartagena?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cartagena?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
