What you'll see and do
Meet your driver in front Biblioteca Județeană "George Barițiu, Bulevardul Eroilor, 500036 Brașov, in the late afternoon and set off by air-conditioned minivan or car into the Carpathian Mountains of Romania's Transylvania region. The starting time is between 16:00 - 18:00, depending of the month! We inform you about the exact pick up time/meeting time with 2-3 days before! Extra charges apply if you are staying in Poiana Brasov resort! After roughly 40 minutes, arrive at the hide where you meet our forest ranger and settle in to watch for bears. Stay quiet and enjoy ample time to look for these magnificent animals. Note: we cannot guarantee 100% that you will be able to see any of the wildlife listed above. Do not forget that wildlife have their own way of living and we, humans, try to approach them as much as possible in their natural habitat.

Unforgettable experience!
During our forest excursion, two quads and a jeep unexpectedly drove in illegally, scaring off the wildlife. Unfortunately, this meant we didn't see anything at first. The organizers said this had never happened before and offered us the chance to go again for free the next day. Great service! On the second day, we went to a different area-much deeper in the forest and near a small body of water (a good spot for bears). We spotted the first bear after 20 minutes, and a second one 30 minutes later. An incredible experience! Such beautiful animals. We also saw several foxes; one even sat right next to a bear while it was eating. Along the way, we also spotted several bear tracks on the road. The guide shared lots of interesting facts and welcomed our questions; it was really great that they offered us another day! It was an unforgettable experience!

A cool unique experience in nature
Very nice experience with a respectful and knowledgeable guide. Was lucky to see a brown bear, maybe foxes and a buzzard on our tour.

Great experience
A great experience, we got to see 3 bears and 2 of them even almost had a barney right in front of us before they made friends again. So very cool!

Better ways to see bears and avoid the rainy days
Disappointing experience mainly because I was assured by the owner of the business that rain does not make a difference to likelihood of a bear being spotted but literally the first thing the guide said when we got out of the van at the bear spotting site was that we are unlikely to see anything due to the rain! And sure enough we saw nothing. I am a reasonable person and obviously sightings are not guaranteed but this was incredibly frustrating as I had directly asked the question about the rain just a few days earlier before I booked. I did ask for some compensation for this but was refused. I have no issue with the guide himself, he was really trying to get a sighting despite the rain and tried his absolute best on the night. Also this trip is over 4 hours long and you don’t get back into town until after 9pm. To see bears you are MUCH better off driving the Transfăgărășa road - I did this a few days later and saw 9 bears (5 cubs) in very close proximity and was able to enjoy this in the comfort of my car (for free) rather than in the middle of a forest, in a wooden hut and paying a lot of money to see absolutely nothing.

As the business owner, I am happy to consider fair compensation for a disappointing experience, but it should not be based on allegations or assumptions about our intentions. Our product information clearly explains that wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. It does not matter whether it is sunny, cloudy, raining, or snowing — bears are wild animals, not actors waiting for the weather to improve before making an appearance. Unfortunately, we cannot control either the bears or the weather. What is particularly surprising is your claim that you were told rain “does not make a difference” and your interpretation that this somehow means we guaranteed a sighting. Those are two very different things. A change in the likelihood of spotting wildlife under particular conditions does not invalidate the fact that sightings cannot be guaranteed. You also describe the guide as having “tried his absolute best,” which we appreciate. That is precisely what our guides do. They cannot manufacture a bear simply because a customer has booked a tour. As for your comparison with seeing nine bears, including five cubs, from the Transfăgărășan a few days later — we are genuinely happy you had that experience. But seeing bears from the roadside on another day is not the same product as joining a dedicated, guided wildlife-watching experience in the forest. Comparing the two as though they are interchangeable is rather like comparing a safari with seeing an elephant from a highway. Finally, you say you are a “reasonable person” and that you understand sightings are not guaranteed. We would therefore expect the same reasonable approach when describing our communication and our product. We are happy to accept criticism when it is fair and factual, but we will not accept accusations that we deliberately misled you when that is not what happened. We are sorry you did not see a bear. We regret that outcome, but we will not apologize for something we did not do.
