Tour cancellation with counterfeit money refund
We simply took a hit! The flight had been booked for one day, but it didn't happen because of bad weather; the next day the agency doubled the price (from 80 to 150 dollars), and we still booked. Someone went to the hotel to use the card machine and give us the life insurance receipt for the flight... At 10pm, the same person got in touch to say that the flight had been cancelled, and (for the reason we only understand now ) did not cancel the debit transaction and returned to the hotel to return the cash payment to us. When we tried to use it, we were bitterly surprised that the notes were fake! In addition to losing the experience, as it was our last day, we also lost the money ($300). And they had flights! We saw the balloons at the hotel, as that was all we had left. Lesson learned: even if it's more expensive, book with the hotel. Most in Cappadocia organize tours.

Horrible experience, we crushed and did not get the money back
I will try to be brief… We booked 2 tickets to fly over Capadocia. Mr Mucahit Sucu sold us the balloon experience and the following happened: A van picked us up from the hotel half an hour late around 5 am and drove us more than an hour away to the balloon. There were two things that weren´t right already, besides the fact that he was late which is an unimportant detail in this story at the end. First of all, he was speeding so much that we almost crashed twice: first on a curve and also on the way back to the hotel, as he was on the phone and crossed to the opposite lane. Secondly, we assumed that we would fly over the area that appears in all photos, called Goreme. Big mistake assuming that but, as a tourist, who would think that we would be taken to Songali, a boring canyon more than an hour away. Don´t be fooled, these companies know well how to hide the information they don´t want to share. We arrived to a coffee area and were given a tea and some pastry we weren´t able to finish as we were rushed into the balloon in the middle of the process. Once in the basket, we were given a quick explanation about the landing and we took off. We were 16 of us, divided into 4 sections and the pilot, Mr Mehmet Açikalin, who seemed nervous as soon as we were up. We departed from a kind of valley and once we were over the hill overlooking the canyon, the strong wind took us down. The pilot called over radio and screamed -hard landing!- We didn´t know what was happening because it all happened so fast. We went down in the basket holding the rope handles and bumped 4 times on the dirt until the balloon stopped dragging us. Finally the basket turned to the side and we run out as the accumulation of helium could explode. Laughing in misbelief and adrenaline rush, we checked for injuries and we were grateful to have no broken bones. We were in the middle of nowhere and suddenly, a car and 2 guys showed up, laid a table with non-alcoholic sparkling drink and asked for tips. What!!!!??? We couldn´t believe it. I can´t express what I felt in this whole experience…impotent, scared, constantly in danger and, overall, really sad because I dreamt of flying over Capadocia and it ruined it. It was obvious that the weather conditions were not suitable for takeoff and, even so, they did not mind putting us at risk. And it is worth mentioning that our flight companions had been in a balloon more times and had never had such a horrible experience. It all happened in 15minutes and we paid for 1 hour flight. They took us back to the hotel and we returned to Real Dream Agency to claim our money back. Mr Mucahit Sucu kept repeating – you use service, you pay -. He passed the hot potato to Flower Balloons, the organizers and responsible for all, according to Mr Mucahit. Another dodgy fact to add is that, we were told we would fly with Flower Balloons (also specified in the photo of the receipt I have attached), we checked the company online and seemed legitimate but they put us in a balloon from a company called Erciyes, the certificate was from Erciyes and Erciyes only has a bare profile in Instagram with one photo and no reviews. We texted Flower Balloons (hard to deal on the phone with them) and denied that we were their customers but we went to their office, which was closed and found out that Flower Balloons and Erciyes work together. We never managed to find a contact number for Erciyes. We couldn´t go directly to the Turism Police because we were flying the day after. The final messages from Flower Ballons and Mr Mucahit Sucu were really rude. It´s in my hands to inform that these companies are not safe, they are money makers, maintenance seemed really low and if an accident happens, the chances to get help are inexistent. Don´t waste your holiday time and energy to deal with these scammers as we did. I wouldn´t recommend this experience …and if you go ahead, make sure you buy a separate insurance (not the one they say it´s included in the price) and know very well the company.

Why this scores 42
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Tour Sunrise With Breakfast: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Goreme.
How much does Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Tour Sunrise With Breakfast cost?
+
Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Goreme usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Tour Sunrise With Breakfast take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Goreme is not rushed.
Is Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Tour Sunrise With Breakfast worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 42 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.2/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Goreme, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Tour Sunrise With Breakfast?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Tour Sunrise With Breakfast suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Tour Sunrise With Breakfast?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Goreme can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Goreme and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Tour Sunrise With Breakfast start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Goreme within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Goreme?
+
On Outty we rank every Goreme experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Red (North) Tour Cappadocia (small group) with lunch and tickets, Green (South) Tour Cappadocia (small group) with lunch and ticket, Cappadocia Green Tour - Classic Route (Popular). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Goreme?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Goreme?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
