This locally guided food walking tour includes all tastings and a real insight into the life of a local. As they say, you can't beat Wellington on a good day and while we can't control the weather, we do like to make it a great days while you're exploring the city with us. The tour includes coffee, chocolate, a second generation owned restaurant, a gorgeous waterfront eatery with a special purpose and maybe the answer to the question 'where is the best cheese scone?" And we're topping it off with craft beer, charcuterie and cheese. Wellington is the culinary capital of New Zealand and we love you all our hidden gems! It's a slow paced walking tour that shared the character, culture and history of this great capital city along the way. There is time to stop and buy if you would like to and our very knowledgeable team are more than happy to set you right for places to eat and enjoy during your tour! All guests must be over 18 to try any alcohol

Wonderful walking food tour
We had a wonderful experience with Wendy walking around Wellington and learning lots of history and interesting facts about NZ culture and food along the way. Wendy was so lovely and knowledgeable, I especially appreciated her patience and flexibility with our group. Would highly recommend!

Our Food Tour Was Like Tasting “The Best of” Wellington
We were delighted with the range of foods our tour guide, Wendy, exposed us to in a few hours. She especially catered to my wife who is gluten free. In our short time together we tried delicious food from Pickle and Pie, Wellington Seafood Market, the Wellington Chocolate Factory, Mr. Go’s and ended with craft beer bar. From start to finish there were tasty surprises for both of us, including banana bread and pastrami; excellent seafood, chocolate treasures to take home and a chicken salad bursting with flavors. We couldn’t ask for more local knowledge, history and eating suggestions.

Fun way to see & enjoy Wellington.
Rebecca was our knowledgeable & joyful guide- even on a wet day! The food locations were absolutely delicious! From pastrami to fresh fish, chocolate to gelato, and much, much more. Wellington is a Beautiful walkable city with an incredible outdoor fresh food market and fascinating history. We highly recommend this Awesome Tour!

Highly Recommended
We booked this tour for Feb 15, 2026 through Travelocity/Expedia. We had previously been on a Big Foody tour in another city and it was excellent. Unfortunately there was a snafu which resulted in Big Foody not getting our booking for this tour in Wellington. That day we spoke to the owner and she was both appologetic and perplexed as to why the booking hadn't gotten to her. She spent a bunch of time on the phone with me, promised to look into it on her end, and gave us recommendations of places to eat. After getting home, I contacted Travelocity for a refund. Over 40 days and many phone calls later I finally got a refund. It was a horrible customer service experience. Throughout all this, Big Foody was very helpful. In the end, Travelocity did get me the refund (but only after I contacted upper executives of the company). And in doing so, they blamed the booking problem on Big Foody, which I know wasn't true. Summary: Travelocity/Expedia customer service was horrible, and Big Foody was excellent.
