I had an incredible walking tour of Langa Township with Imzu, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. He guided me through the diverse facets of Langa, from the more established, middle-class areas to the poorest informal settlements, all while maintaining the utmost respect, dignity, and sensitivity toward the local residents. Along the way, he shared fascinating anecdotes, encouraged me to ask questions, and even taught me a few words in the local language (isiXhosa), which made the walk feel genuinely interactive and immersive. Throughout the tour, Imzu was attentive to my needs and pacing, ensuring I felt welcome and engaged at every step. The price is more than fair for the value and depth of the experience provided. Our township tour with Imzu was one of the most meaningful experiences of our trip. Before we started, he taught us a few important Xhosa words, like molo (hello) and enkosi (thank you), so we could greet people respectfully. It made such a difference—everywhere we went, people welcomed us warmly. It was clear how much Imzu is respected in Langa, where he grew up and shared his own personal story with us. We met local artists, had the opportunity to support the community by buying handmade jewelry and ceramics, and gained an authentic insight into everyday life. At the same time, we witnessed heartbreaking poverty. Meeting families living in half a shipping container, who still invited us into their homes with kindness and generosity, was incredibly moving. This wasn’t just a tour—it was an experience that changed the way we think about our own lives and left us with a deep sense of gratitude. Thank you, Imzu, for your openness and for sharing your community with us.

Eye-opening and deeply authentic experience!
Our tour through Langa was absolutely incredible, and that is entirely thanks to our guide, Ox. We felt safe the entire time because Ox seems to know nearly every single person on the street! The tour gave us a very authentic, multi-faceted look at the area. It was fascinating to see the stark contrasts within the township itself, walking past totally impoverished areas, middle-class homes, and high-class buildings. We were even invited into the locals' houses and accommodations to talk with them directly. Our first stop was a deeply moving gospel worship service at the Methodist church. Later, we met a local multi-talented artist (@chillzeverything) and learned about his work. The locals were incredibly friendly and welcoming everywhere we went.. they even let me drink from their shared umqombothi (traditional beer) bucket! While some of the living conditions were eye-opening and a bit jarring to my European eyes, this raw, honest, and warm look at the community was definitely the highlight of my trip. Highly recommended!

Travelers should know this tour is not for fun - but to learn - how history of colonialism and racism has brought suffering for these people- they should be humble and respectful towards this community
