Great city intro tour
We love doing city bike tours as they are a great intro to the city, really help you the “lay of the land” and highlights things to go back to later and this tour was great for that. Lucas was highly knowledgeable and gave us great info on Cape Town’s history as we cycled around. Some real hidden gems on this tour - loved the Common Gardens and the break stop in Bo- kaap. The Cape Malay Koeksisters were amazing. Cycling the streets can be a little hairy as Cape Town is still setting itself up with good cycling infrastructure. Watch pedestrians - they don’t stop.

Highly recommend AWOL Tours
Really enjoyed the personalised nature with a guide to answer all my questions. We went into places that I wouldn't have been to otherwise and saw sites close up that I'd never been to even though I'd been to Cape Town before. Very comfortable pace which made me feel safe and secure. Highly recommend it.
Response from the operator: Dear Tracey S, Thank you for your wonderful review and recommendation. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the personalised nature of the tour and appreciated having a guide on hand to answer your questions throughout the experience. One of the benefits of the city cycling tour is the opportunity to explore beyond the typical tourist routes, uncovering hidden gems and local stories that many visitors—and even returning visitors to Cape Town—might otherwise miss. We're especially pleased that you felt comfortable, safe, and able to enjoy the tour at a pace that suited you. Creating experiences that are engaging, relaxed, and tailored to each guest's interests and comfort levels is something we take great pride in. Thank you for choosing AWOL, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure the next time you're in Cape Town. Kind regards, Helen for AWOL Tours

Great way to see Capetown
Really enjoyed our tour with Vince as our guide. Our route was about 10k in total with plenty of stops over about three hours, with fascinating insights, observations and history at every stop. We saw and learned so much - which just wouldn’t have been possible on a guided walking tour or self guided. Recommended
Response from the operator: Dear keith b, Thank you for your fantastic review and recommendation. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your tour with Vince and that the combination of cycling, sightseeing, and storytelling helped you experience Cape Town in a unique way. Vince has a wonderful ability to bring the city's history, culture, and hidden details to life, and we're pleased that his insights added so much value throughout the journey. One of the great advantages of exploring by bike is the ability to cover more ground than on a walking tour while still being able to stop frequently, engage with the surroundings, and discover places that are often missed when travelling by vehicle. We're glad the pace and route allowed you to see and learn so much during your time with us. Thank you for choosing AWOL, and we hope to welcome you back for another cycling adventure in the future. Kind regards, Helen for AWOL Tours.

Great way to see the city
Phoned up in the morning with no answer but then tried whatsapp and they responded immediately. Really helpful and efficient and sent pic of our guide Amber. Easy to find and park we were briefed and sized for our bikes. Helmets and water bottle (full) included. Amber was really helpful and friendly with good knowledge of the city and its sights. The tour took us all around and was not strenuous - a real way to experience local life. There was a shirt stop in Bo Kaap for a drink and taste of local snacks. We loved it Thanks
Response from the operator: Dear Althoros, Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your experience from the very first contact through to the end of the tour. We appreciate your understanding regarding the missed phone call, and we're glad our team was able to assist you quickly via WhatsApp and provide all the information you needed before your tour. It's great to hear that Amber helped make your experience so enjoyable. Her friendly nature, local knowledge, and enthusiasm for sharing Cape Town with guests are qualities we value highly, and we'll be sure to pass along your kind words. We're also pleased that you found the route comfortable and enjoyed experiencing the city from a local perspective. Exploring by bike allows guests to cover more ground while still stopping to appreciate the people, culture, history, and neighbourhoods that make Cape Town so special. We're glad you enjoyed the stop in Bo-Kaap and the opportunity to sample some local treats along the way. Thank you for choosing AWOL. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure the next time you're in Cape Town. Kind regards, Helen for AWOL Tours.

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cape Town City Cycling Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cape Town.
How much does Cape Town City Cycling Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $1600 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cape Town usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cape Town City Cycling Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cape Town is not rushed.
Is Cape Town City Cycling Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 222 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cape Town, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cape Town City Cycling Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cape Town City Cycling Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 8. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Cape Town City Cycling Tour?
+
Around 78 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cape Town can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cape Town and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cape Town City Cycling Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cape Town within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cape Town?
+
On Outty we rank every Cape Town experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Penguins Day Tour from Cape Town, Table Mountain, Boulders Penguins and Cape point Day Tour, Wine Tour: Paarl, Franschhoek & Stellenbosch incl 3 wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cape Town?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cape Town?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
