A great way to spend 5-6 hours from Athens.
We were thrilled with our tour with Markos and Timeless Athens Tours. He was informative, knowledgeable and authentic. We booked just a day ahead and we feel lucky that they were able to accommodate us. We had a late flight the evening after leaving our cruise but nowhere to spend the day. Markos met us at the airport and stored all of our bags in the spacious Mercedes van while we toured, so we had access anytime. The van was comfortable and he did a wonderful job of explaining the Grecian mythology and history while we viewed the beautiful area outside of the city. We visited Cape Sounion and Poseidon’s Temple before heading to a delicious lunch on the seashore. Afterwards, we had a pretty drive back to the airport where he unloaded our bags curbside. What a great way to spend a few hours instead of the airport waiting to check in! We would highly recommend!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that your experience with Markos and Timeless Athens Tours exceeded your expectations. It was our pleasure to provide a seamless and comfortable private tour from Athens to Cape Sounion, especially with the convenience of airport pick-up and luggage storage in our luxury Mercedes van. We’re thrilled you enjoyed exploring Poseidon’s Temple at Cape Sounio, learning about Greek mythology and history, and taking in the stunning coastal scenery. These are exactly the kinds of memorable experiences we aim to create on all of our Athens private tours. Thank you again for choosing Timeless Athens Tours—we hope to welcome you back for more unforgettable Athens sightseeing and day trips in the future!

Beautiful 1/2 day tour!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Cape Sounio & Temple of Poseidon tour. Our driver, Vassilis was very knowledgeable and we were glad to hear the historical details that he explained to us along the way. We only had a couple of days in Athens and it was nice to see the sights outside of the city as well. The restaurant that Vassilis picked out for us was perfect and the food excellent! Altogether it was a perfect way to spend a half day and well worth it. We wanted a tour where we could go at our own speed and not have the feeling that we were holding up other members of the tour. We had a great time and would book with Timeless again the next time we are in Athens. Thank you Vassiis!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for choosing Timeless Athens Tours for your Cape Sounio & Temple of Poseidon experience! We’re thrilled to hear that you and your wife thoroughly enjoyed the tour and that Vassilis made your day so memorable with his knowledge, hospitality, and thoughtful restaurant recommendation. Exploring beyond the city center to discover the stunning views of Cape Sounio and the majestic Temple of Poseidon is truly a highlight, and we’re so glad you had the chance to enjoy it at your own pace. Providing private, customized Athens tours tailored to each guest’s preferences is exactly what we aim for, and it’s rewarding to know you appreciated the flexibility and personal touch. We would be honored to welcome you back for more Athens sightseeing and day trips from Athens whenever you return. Until then, safe travels and warm regards from all of us—especially Vassilis! Best wishes, The Timeless Athens Tours Team

Lovely drive, great sights, and a wonderful meal to finish the day
We booked this trip after having a wonderful Timeless Athens tour a couple days before and we are so happy we did. Our guide was Markos who is personable, knowledgeable, engaging, and a very good driver. Our goal on both this Cape Sounio tour and our earlier Argolis Extended tour was to see more of the Greek countryside as we were staying only in Athens. The Cape Sounio trip took us to the east and south along the coast. It was a beautiful drive on a beautiful day. We saw some of the tonier suburbs of Athens, the beautiful Lake Vouliagmeni, the “Greek Riviera,” and Poseidon’s Temple (from a distance and close up). We finished with a superb dinner at Akrogiali. We enthusiastically recommend Timeless Athens Tours. We were very happy with both of the tours we took with them.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review! We're thrilled you enjoyed both the Cape Sounio private tour and the Argolis extended day trip with Timeless Athens Tours. Markos made exploring the Greek countryside, Athens Riviera, Lake Vouliagmeni, and the Temple of Poseidon a memorable experience. Highly recommended for unforgettable private Athens tours!

Why this scores 54
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cape Sounio & Temple of Poseidon: Exclusive Half-Day Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Cape Sounio & Temple of Poseidon: Exclusive Half-Day Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $440 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cape Sounio & Temple of Poseidon: Exclusive Half-Day Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Cape Sounio & Temple of Poseidon: Exclusive Half-Day Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cape Sounio & Temple of Poseidon: Exclusive Half-Day Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cape Sounio & Temple of Poseidon: Exclusive Half-Day Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Cape Sounio & Temple of Poseidon: Exclusive Half-Day Private Tour?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cape Sounio & Temple of Poseidon: Exclusive Half-Day Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
