leaky canoes
Very disappointed and, in our view, a serious safety concern. We booked a canoe trip with River Wild Sarari for a group of 13 people. We were expecting 8 canoes with 3 guides. When we got to the launch site one of the canoes would not inflate. This should have been checked before the trip to the launch site. Their solution was to eliminate one of the guides and put one of our group in a middle seat without a paddle. The middle seat appeared to be improvised/rigged and was very uncomfortable. About 5 minutes into the trip. a second canoe began losing air and had to be pumped up every few minutes. We were told it was probably ok to continue as it was one of several compartments for the canoe. We did not consider that an acceptable solution as it reduced that canoes maneuverability in hippo/croc infested waters, and in our opinion presented a potentially unacceptable safety risk. We told our guides that we did not feel safe and insisted that canoe be taken out of service, with two of our group leaving the trip and traveling back to the endpoint in a vehicle. So to summarize, we were down a guide, down a canoe and had another canoe that was leaking air. We followed up with the company when we got home, but they maintained they followed standard procedures and said we were the ones that made the decision for two of us not to continue the trip. However, I would have thought that pre-operational inspection of the equipment would be standard procedure. As this was one of their least strenuous offerings, I would be hesitant to recommend them for some of their more adventurous activities they provide. Dan

Just do it
I must admit I was apprehensive about this tour but hubby was keen so I went along. I am so glad I did! It was a wonderful day. Started with a drive through a national park seeing a few animals, followed by a delicious breakfast. Then onto the canoes, had a briefing re safety and paddling. Then we were off on the Zambezi River, beautiful scenery, saw crocs and hippos and lots of birds. At the end a delicious lunch. Absolutely fantastic experience, a different way to see the area.
Response from the operator: Dear Helen We are absolutely delighted that you enjoyed your day out with us. We would love to have you back some day. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Why this scores 53
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Canoeing Upper Zambezi 1 Day - River Wild Safaris: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Victoria Falls.
How much does Canoeing Upper Zambezi 1 Day - River Wild Safaris cost?
+
Prices start at $210 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Victoria Falls usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Canoeing Upper Zambezi 1 Day - River Wild Safaris take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Victoria Falls is not rushed.
Is Canoeing Upper Zambezi 1 Day - River Wild Safaris worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Victoria Falls, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Canoeing Upper Zambezi 1 Day - River Wild Safaris?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Canoeing Upper Zambezi 1 Day - River Wild Safaris suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Canoeing Upper Zambezi 1 Day - River Wild Safaris?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Victoria Falls can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Victoria Falls and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Canoeing Upper Zambezi 1 Day - River Wild Safaris start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Victoria Falls within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Victoria Falls?
+
On Outty we rank every Victoria Falls experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Guided Tour of the Falls (Zimbabwe side), Zambezi River Class IV-V White-Water Rafting from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe & Zambia: Guided Tour of the Falls from Both Sides. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Victoria Falls?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Victoria Falls?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Canoeing Upper Zambezi 1 Day - River Wild Safaris?
+
Included: Carbonated beverages; Bottled water; Lunch; Canoes and Safety Equipment; and Tea and coffee. Not included: National Park Entry Fees USD$10 per person; Tips and Gratuities (Optional); and Entrance fees. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.
