Horrible.. extremely boring
Horrible tour. The description stated air on van or bus. We traveled in an open top no air on bus with just 6 people on the tour. The driver was rude upon pick up stating”I don’t listen” as I tried to confirm details before I got on the bus. The tour was 4 hrs mostly in Spanish , nothing remarkable just talking. The driver stopped at the bank and to get ice. No water available after walking at the ruin. No mention of what was at the ruin you just had to read the signs. The other 2 stops were tourist traps to buy souvenirs. The tour mentions stopping at a tequila museum.. it was literally a room at the tourist trap with a movie playing.. same for the chocolate museum. Worst tour ever. 4 hours of wasted time. We were ready to find our way back to the hotel after hour 1.
Response from the operator: For any readers, this traveler review is not anywhere close to reality The bus had 2 floors, the first one had AC, however this traveler wanted the paronamic views of the top and was upset about not having AC on an open area When explained, the traveler took a rude attitude towards guides and passengers In the review the traveler claims that the driver stopped at a bank... to get ice. In the same review they claimed that there was no water at the ruins, then what was the ice for? In reality, the bus had ice, water and other drinks available from the start. The guide gave an explanation during the visit at the ruins, however, you choose to ignore it and be on your own The tequila tasting and the chocalate tasting took place as always and the rest of the travelers had a good time, as said on other reviews. There is no mention anywhere about a museum Not al souvenirs are "tourist traps", the tour information stated that souvenirs stores where going to be visited, with local prices and not the expensive prices someone would find at their hotel or airport

Stay away
If your thinking this sounds like a good family activity think again and look elsewhere. Tour started an hour late. Never received a call. They texted after 15 minutes and 15 minutes after that Miguel the organizer said the tour guide was at my hotel but he was not and Miguel stopped answering my text. Finally after an hour. It was loud music, no one was guiding and I purchased the English tour to find out it was Spanish/english. I understand Spanish didn’t mind. Then I realized the Spanish guide was much more informational then his English version and that was not helpful to my English only family. No tequila museum, no tequila tasting, no chocolate tasting and we waisted a day going to 2 shopping mini marts abs the Meca. Not worth my $270 for family of 3. Avoid this tour.
Response from the operator: The tour began on time with no one-hour delay as claimed. Our team made multiple phone calls to update you about your transportation. We did not receive any text messages or other communication attempts from your side. The majority of the group spoke English, and the guide conducted the tour accordingly. Your claim that the guide only spoke Spanish is simply false. In fact, the guide made efforts to include everyone, and any Spanish used was minimal and intended to accommodate the few travelers who preferred it. It is disappointing to see such a misrepresentation. There is no mention of a tequila museum in our tour description. The experience clearly includes a tequila and chocolate tasting, which was delivered exactly as advertised. To suggest otherwise is not accurate. You participated in the entire tour, including the tastings, the guided visit to the ruins, and the shopping stops. You chose to leave only at the very end. After completing the full itinerary, you requested a full refund, which was declined for valid reasons. We welcome honest feedback, but we also have a responsibility to correct misinformation. Our team works hard to deliver a quality experience, and it is important that reviews reflect what actually took place.

A bit of everything
We had a great day with a variety of activities on this excursion. Our guide Hagan was great, and we learned a lot from him. The driver probably saved us 20 minutes by avoiding an on-ramp packed with cars due to an accident. The ruins were very interesting, and Hagan explained a lot about the Mayan culture. We stopped at a cool little outdoor church right on the ocean. The first shopping stop was in a touristy area and everything was marked up quite a bit, but we got to sample some awesome Mexican chocolate. The Habanero chocolate was very spicy but very good! The cenote was really cool. A little small and there were no caves to explore but you could jump about 20 feet into it or zip-line drop into it. Bring your own towels and snorkle gear as none were provided. After the cenote we had the option of going to a tourist "restaurant" or a place where the locals go and everyone wanted the latter. This was the best Mexican food I've ever had, and it was probably my favorite meal of the whole trip (and I was staying at an AI resort with gourmet food)!.Their specialty is pork and they use all parts of the pig. The fried pig skins were the best I've ever had, and the guacamole was very spicy and delicious! We absolutely loved it! The market shopping at the end was kind of neat but be prepared to haggle your ass off to get a fair price. Even at the bar where we were overcharged for a couple of beers. You need to watch out closely for pretty much any kind of exchange. We stopped at a local convenience store on the way back to the hotel. We watched the lady ring up four drinks which we paid for, and then she tried to tell us we had only paid for one. All in all though it was kind of a long day but the lunch alone was worth it!! The staff were great and we learned a lot.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your preference, and all your comments we really appreciate the time you took to give us such nice and complete review of the tour!! We keep working every day to make Cancun city tour always the best tour for all of you:)

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cancun City Tour + El Meco Ruins Round Transportation: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.
How much does Cancun City Tour + El Meco Ruins Round Transportation cost?
+
Prices start at $78 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cancun City Tour + El Meco Ruins Round Transportation take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.
Is Cancun City Tour + El Meco Ruins Round Transportation worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cancun City Tour + El Meco Ruins Round Transportation?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cancun City Tour + El Meco Ruins Round Transportation suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Cancun City Tour + El Meco Ruins Round Transportation?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cancun City Tour + El Meco Ruins Round Transportation start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cancun?
+
On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cancun?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cancun?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
