Amazing Tour of Giza
This was an absolutely incredible experience, made amazing by our extremely knowledgeable and connected tour guide Bisho. A private driver picked us up from our hotel and drove us into Giza, where we went to the Great Pyramids, which was breathtaking. He then brought us to a spot with a beautiful scene to take photos, then onto riding camels, with the night topped off with a Nile River cruise. Egyptian society is very warm and our guide exemplified that, all around an incredible experience! Thank you Bisho!

Ripped off - More interested in taking us to factory shops
I paid $155 USD for a 6 hour private tour of the pyramids on a layover from Cairo airport for myself and my 9 year old son. Whilst Ahmad greeted us and took us to the car, he drove with the windows down the entire trip and we were freezing. He even locked the rear window down at one point so we were frozen, Ahmad himself had 3 hooded jackets on! We picked up our guide on the way to Giza by the side of the road. Straight away I sensed a bit of an attitude when and I found him a little passive aggressive when I said we had only learned a little Arabic and when asking us if we knew the names of the pyramids. In fact as the tour promised a qualified Egyptologist, the only thing we were told was the names of the pyramids. In all we spent 1 hour and 4 minutes at the pyramids, whilst being rushed round to snap some pictures. The guide was more intent on getting us to go to the papyrus factory, the cotton factory and the perfume factory… all obviously commission based for him. We had booked a 6 hour trip and effectively got a 1 hour tour and a 1 hour drive. After the papyrus factory my son was utterly bored and hungry and the suggestion of another shop rather than the ancient Egyptian things he wanted to see were too much. I asked the guide to take us back to the airport early rather than being taken to all the factory shops we were not interested in. We arrived back at Cairo airport 6 hours before our domestic flight. I raised my concerns with both the tour operator and viator but was met with attitude from the tour company and no help from ViaTour. In comparison I did a private day trip yesterday in Luxor for the same cost and we had the most wonderful full 9 hour day with a very knowledgeable tour guide, a courteous driver and a wealth of amazing stops. I feel totally totally ripped off by this sham of a tour.
Response from the operator: HELLO Thank you for feedback if you fell cold , youcan ask the driver to roll up the windw,we sent you private car, guide staryed with you 2 hour in giza pyramids, beforeh e left yhe asked you want more time you said no for money you pai you got 2 time airprot trnasfer , private tour , car , druive ,guide, entry fees, what else is missing be fair and be happy

Fantastic layover trip!
What a fantastic experience. I was nervous about doing a trip during a 7 hour layover but it was a dream of mine to see the Pyramids and the Sphinx. The pickup at the airport was seamless, the guide was thorough and a licensed Egyptologist. The views were breathtaking and the experienced guide was helpful with street vendors and answered all questions. I would recommend this tour for anyone that has a long layover in Cairo! Oh, and the camel ride through the desert to visit the Sphinx was unbelievable!

Cairo Private layover tour Giza pyramids, sphinx&Nile Felucca Boat: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cairo.
How much does Cairo Private layover tour Giza pyramids, sphinx&Nile Felucca Boat cost?
+
Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cairo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cairo Private layover tour Giza pyramids, sphinx&Nile Felucca Boat take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cairo is not rushed.
Is Cairo Private layover tour Giza pyramids, sphinx&Nile Felucca Boat worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cairo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cairo Private layover tour Giza pyramids, sphinx&Nile Felucca Boat?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cairo Private layover tour Giza pyramids, sphinx&Nile Felucca Boat suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Cairo Private layover tour Giza pyramids, sphinx&Nile Felucca Boat?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cairo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cairo and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cairo Private layover tour Giza pyramids, sphinx&Nile Felucca Boat start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cairo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cairo?
+
On Outty we rank every Cairo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include All-in-One Giza Tour, inside Pyramid, sphinx, Camel ride & lunch, VIP Private Giza Pyramids, Sphinx Tour –Inside the Pyramids&More, Best of Cairo Private Giza Pyramids, Sphinx and Grand Museum Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cairo?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cairo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
