Good time, but disappointing
Raafat was very kind and helpful. We expected to only receive a ride to the pyramids from the airport where we would take photos, look around, and learn about the pyramids and some fun facts. After seeing the pyramids, we expected to be returned to the airport. We expected this because that’s what was described online when we booked. He told us that he would give us a free tour along with the ride to the pyramids which included a “few stops”. We were taken to 2 locations (it sounded like he had 4 or 5 total in mind) where we were sat down, and people tried to sell us things. It was a good look into Egyptian culture, but we were not expecting to be taken into private rooms where we would receive one sales pitch after another. When we got to the area of the pyramids, we were again sat down in a private room and we were told that the only way to get to the pyramids was by horse and carriage. Raafat looked us in the eye and said that it was too far to walk and this was the only way. It sounded like he was friends with these guys and this was all planned beforehand. We refused and told them we would walk, and wouldn’t you know it, the pyramids were just a couple blocks away and we were able to walk just fine. Once we got to the pyramids, we found out that not only could we walk, but that there was a free shuttle bus that would take us to all the locations we wanted to go in order to get our photos. Every step of the journey where we refused to do what Raafat or his colleagues wanted us to do, they became visibly upset and tried everything in their power to sell us on their product, or get us to do something that we did not want to do, like ride the carriages, or the camels. I understand that this is their job, and how they make money, but when I can’t fully trust the person I have hired for a job, it does not make me want to use their services ever again.

8 hour layover to see the pyramids
We had a good experience with Raafat. I was scared that it would be too tight on time with our layover but we had more than enough time. Highly recommend having your tickets purchased for entrance to the pyramids before you arrive. Many people will try to sell you packages telling you its the only way to see the pyramids or only way to see the panoramic sights is by riding and animal or carriage. Its not true! We had a great experience walking through the park and there was a free shuttle bus in the park to get you around different photo sites. Raafat was very polite and friendly. We really enjoyed his company! Come see the pyramids! We spent about an hour and a half at the pyramids and that was enough for us.
