No fish court, but it was still a great day on the estuary

It was a great experience. The two God was really knowledgable. I had great conversations. Unfortunately, the fish were definitely not biting. We caught a couple of meals and that was about it. This was obviously a little disappointing

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the write this review. We're thrilled to hear that you had a great experience, enjoyed the conversations on board, and found Darryl knowledgeable. We completely understand your disappointment regarding the fish not cooperating—that's just how nature goes sometimes, even when we try our best! We're glad you were still able to reel in a couple of meals' worth at least. Darryl and Raewyn Your Hosts of Fish Tales Charters Cairns Fish Tales Charters

    Not the best experience

Small boat fits up to 5 or 6 people. The first hour+ was spent searching for bait. We fished three spots after he finally caught enough bait. One small trash fish was caught. After 4 hours we stopped and he told us to think of it as a nice boat ride. While we enjoyed the conversation with the other people, we didn’t leave feeling like we really were there to have a fishing experience. Sure, you can’t be sure you’ll catch anything but the first hour, which might have been when the fish were biting, we spent looking for bait. The owner gave out a couple of live shrimp that he had and said that shrimp is the best bait. Why did we spend over an hour looking for other bait when he already had the shrimp. Not a wise use of time or resources in our opinion.

Response from the operator: Hi Doug, Thank you for taking the time to write this review; we appreciate your feedback! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the conversation and the company on board, but our apologies the fishing experience didn't meet your expectations. Gathering live bait is an important part of our charters to give us the best chance at a successful catch in the estuary, but we completely understand your frustration regarding the time spent searching and how that impacted your day on the water. We always want our guests to feel like they are getting a great fishing experience from start to finish. We hope to have the chance to welcome you back aboard one day for a much more productive and memorable fishing trip! Darryl & Raewyn Your Hosts of Fish Tales Charters

Small group fishing experience in cairns estuary area, operator very knowledgable about local area and fishing. All fishing stuf

Very small private fishing charter, departing from cairns marina. Easy to find on finger d in middle of marina off the promande. Small 5.5 m alumiunim boat well set up for estuary fishing with electric motor and 4-stroke engine. Had 5 on the tour. Darryl the owner/operator very friendly and chatty, and engaged eveyone with his stories and local knowledge. Not very PC, but down to earth bloke that assisted with all the fishing stuff. Knew where to catch live bait in a few different spots, and a few local spots to catch fingermarks, some small trevally and medium size cod in the esturay. Good tour for first time fishermen, but not for die hards. Left marina at 6:30am, back at 12:30pm. $150 for 5 hours fishing not bad value. Gave us the option of keeping any legal size fish caught. Tour does not include option for food, tea/coffee or beer, but water available. Recommended for a bit of fun and families having a first time fish.

Response from the operator: Hi Scott, Thanks for taking the time to write this review! Very much appreciated. Loved meeting you and having you onboard. Hope to see you again. Cheers Dazza and Raewyn Your host of Fish Tales Charters

Catch some fish - Enjoy your day too !

Excellent. 10/10. Wonderful knowledge of the area and fish. Darryl's understanding of the local ecosystem and township was great. Price was fair, unlike some of the competitors. To top it all off, a good bit of banter with a few laughs. Not bad at all.... for a Queenslander! Cheers big ears! George and Vicki.

Response from the operator: Big cheers to George and Vicki! Thanks for taking the time to write this review. Thanks for a great day on the water! See you next time! Cheers Darryl and Raewyn
