Off the beaten path, intense, beautiful, and exactly what I was looking for
A few amazing places that are very well off the beaten path but definitely worth seeing. Especially worth seeing the Buzludzha Monument if you're interested in history and/or architecture. I assume the Valley of Roses is nicer during the season - August was a bit late, but the complex was still pretty good. The day was pretty long, and the tour naturally consists of a lot of time on the road since the attractions are relatively far from Sofia. Regardless of the length, it was engaging throughout. Martin was a fantastic guide whose vivid explanations kept us entertained at the sites themselves and on the minibus rides between them. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and open to questions. Our driver was wonderful and very professional. The ride felt smooth even on the mountain roads and on the dilapidated streets of Shipka. Absolutely recommended!

A great tour, a great day
Our tour guide was Maria, whose vast knowledge and kind personality made the trip even greater. From the first moment to the last, he shared a lot of useful information with the team. I am glad and grateful that she was our guide. The weather was excellent, so everything was good for us.

Misleading tour description, inflexible and rude tour guide
The tour is advertised at 7 am, and according to the description that also includes a 15 minute entrance into the cathedral which opens at 7 am, so that means the bus should leave at 7:15 am. I called the tour guide Martin Krastev at 7:02 am and informed him that I would be there within less than 10 minutes as I walking to the destination. Again, based on the information provided on Viator. He said that he cannot wait for me and that the bus is already in the highway (this being at 7:02 am)!! and then hung up and never picked up the phone again, I tried to ask if I can take a taxi and meet him at a destination during the day and received not response. I followed up the company and no offer of rescheduling or refund.
Response from the operator: Dear Kristian, Thank you for taking the time to review us here on Tripadvisor. Your feedback is of great value to us and we appreciate your time. We are sorry that you missed your tour. At Traventuria we have a very strict policy about the time tables of our tours and our buses do not wait for any late passengers. The time efficiency of our itineraries is one of our most recognizable features and we are proud that all of our trips are running on time and on schedule. What is more, the description of the tour does not include and our tour does not include a visit to the cathedral. The bus for this tour departs (has departed) at exactly 07:00am. Perhaps, you have been reading the description of a similar tour, but from another company, where there is a visit of the cathedral Nevski included. However, we would be happy to have you on another tour with us next time you visit Sofia. Best regards, Nora Dobrinska (Traventuria Team)

Inflexible and rude tour guide - left without me, and never followed up after that
The tour was advertised to start at 7 am, so when I called the tour guide that I’ll be there around 7:02 am… they told me, “can't wait sorry” and never followed up again when I asked if I can take an alternative mode of transportation to meet the tour. I’ve been on many tours before where when I’m on time or even early, we are always waiting for people. To contacted the company and they never offered to reschedule the tour or refund the amount.

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Buzludzha Monument and The Rose Valley Day Tour From Sofia 13 hrs: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sofia.
How much does Buzludzha Monument and The Rose Valley Day Tour From Sofia 13 hrs cost?
+
Prices start at $58 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sofia usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Buzludzha Monument and The Rose Valley Day Tour From Sofia 13 hrs take?
+
Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sofia is not rushed.
Is Buzludzha Monument and The Rose Valley Day Tour From Sofia 13 hrs worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 19 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sofia, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Buzludzha Monument and The Rose Valley Day Tour From Sofia 13 hrs?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Buzludzha Monument and The Rose Valley Day Tour From Sofia 13 hrs suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Buzludzha Monument and The Rose Valley Day Tour From Sofia 13 hrs?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sofia can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sofia and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Buzludzha Monument and The Rose Valley Day Tour From Sofia 13 hrs start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sofia within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Sofia?
+
On Outty we rank every Sofia experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Communist Walking Tour of Sofia, Sofia Highlights 2 Hour Sightseeing Walking Tour, Sofia Escape Room - Teorema Rooms. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Sofia?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Sofia?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
