About this experience
This wild buggy ride through the Dominican countryside makes for a morning of adrenaline-pumping adventure. As well as rumbling through rustic villages, you’ll visit an organic farm and cool off with a swim in a cenote. There’s no better way to put a bit of oomph into your holidays. After pick-up, we’ll head to a ranch for a safety briefing and the lowdown on Terracross buggies. Don your helmet, put on your belt and give it some welly. You’ll zoom across the backwoods to the co-op farm. Your guide will tell you about and let you try traditional Dominican products such as coconut oil, chocolate tea, tobacco, rum, cocoa and, of course, the world-famous coffee. Buggy driving can be a messy business, so you’ll round up with a chance to freshen up with a swim in a cenote – a natural spring of crystal clear water.

Terrible company. We first booked the city tour with this company. The tour itself was fine except the van did not have windows so we inhaled exhaust fumes all day. We all ended up with headaches. We tried to cancelled the buggy tour we had also booked, but they wouldn't let us. They came up with all kind of excuses ranging from you need to cancel 7 days in advance, need 76 hours notice, no can do after 5p, to need to show them a medical note. None of these people tried to help and all of them were rude once they understood we wanted to cancel our booking. Their only cancel policy is to deny cancelations at all cost. We used Destination Services at the Serenade Resort, I do not recommend them. Save yourself the headache and go with another company.

No show and no refund!
We were never picked up for our excursion. We had it scheduled through our travel agent before we left for our trip. On the morning of our excursion, we waited in the lobby of our resort and no one showed up to pick us up. We contacted destination services and rescheduled for the following day, which was their recommendation so the date and time were approved by them. No one picked us up the following day either. When we returned from our trip and started working with our travel agent on getting a refund, destination services refused to give us a refund and said we were a no-show. We would NOT recommend them due to the hassle and disappointment.

Ruined my honeymoon and still coming after me. SCAM SCAM SCAM. they cancelled my trip without my permission with less than 24 hour notice. Told me I had to contact Expedia for a refund. When expedia contacted them for approval they told expedia I cancelled my trip! I never did and have proof. I will find every way to make everyone aware of this scamming company until I get my refund.

Fun but dusty, dirty with a cool refreshing pool at the midway point
Driving on a dirt sand road used simultaneously by other vehicles such as cars and trucks. That to say this was NOT a unbeaten, ATV path and your eyes and sinuses will collect a lot of dirt! ! Extremely, extremely dusty! Highly recommend bringing a bandana, and goggles! The facility has them for purchase but as you'd imagine, at a steep premium in their gift shop. (Wanted $20 US for the googles) The vehicles, as expected, were in battered condition, with one vehicle in the caravan that actually broke down, but what i'd expect! Arrival at the cave swim was truly the high light! Walk through a small coffee and cocoa farm with product tasting, then down a stair case into the cave and then you can walk right into the chest high, cool refreshing water! Photographers in the cave and along the travel route site ready to take those adventure photos for review and purchase at the end of the day! The photo's quality were pretty good!

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Buggy Half Day Adventure with Cave Swim from Punta Cana: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Plata.
How much does Buggy Half Day Adventure with Cave Swim from Punta Cana cost?
+
Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Plata usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Buggy Half Day Adventure with Cave Swim from Punta Cana take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Plata is not rushed.
Is Buggy Half Day Adventure with Cave Swim from Punta Cana worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.6/5 across 22 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Plata, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Buggy Half Day Adventure with Cave Swim from Punta Cana?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Buggy Half Day Adventure with Cave Swim from Punta Cana suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Buggy Half Day Adventure with Cave Swim from Punta Cana?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Plata can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Plata and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Buggy Half Day Adventure with Cave Swim from Punta Cana start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Plata within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Puerto Plata?
+
On Outty we rank every Puerto Plata experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Monkeyland and Zipline Adventure from Puerto Plata, Monkeyland Puerto Plata, Puerto Plata Highlights City Tours from amber cove and Taino bay. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Puerto Plata?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Puerto Plata?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
