About this experience
Please read EVERYTHING before booking. The booking price is the hourly rate and fnunctions as a deposit. If you've ever wanted to discover a truly hidden place in magnificent Budapest, this is the tour you are looking for. We will be far from all the typical tourist attractions and will be venturing into the 3rd district of the city, also known as Old Buda, famous for its Roman heritage sites belonging to the former provincial capital Aquincum. The locations included, but dependant on opening times, interest and our movement speed are: The military amphitheatre The ruins of the legionary camp The remains of the military bath (currently only from the outside) The Hercules villa* The Aquincum Museum The civilian amphitheatre* *These are a little off the std. itinerary. Pls. note that including all may mean a tour length of 4.5 hours in total (including travel time between locations as well).

Roman Holiday
We had a wonderful day of touring with Tibi. Smart, funny, and personable. If you want a Roman holiday in Budapest, Tibi should be your guide!

Roman Ruins in the Most Unexpected Place
Tibi provided a highly enjoyable tour of Roman sites in the most unusual places. I won’t give away the surprise, but let’s just say you likely would never find it if you didn’t have Tibi as your tour guide! He also has a great sense of humor and is easy to spend the day with. I highly recommend employing him.

Explore Budapest’s Hidden Roman Roots!
Tibbie is an excellent guide. Fun, personable, knowledgeable and reliable. He was recommended by the Acquincum Museum Director so we felt confident in his qualifications, but our tour exceeded our expectations. We agreed on an hourly rate and were able to tailor the tour to our interests. The scope of the ancient city became personally obvious as we walked from the military coliseum (with a larger field than its Roman counterpart), to the largest Roman bath, ( maybe second now given recent discoveries) to the incredible Hercules Villa and finally the Acquincum Museum itself. By the end we were tired! But Tibbie took us to a wonderful restaurant for lunch recommendations and then rode with us to our transit stop. We had a nice chat the next day when we saw him again at the Fishermen’s Bastion! We felt the tour was reasonably priced (comparable with the museums rates), but the friendship was free!

A great and very informative way to spend your time in Budapest
Tiberiu was extremely flexible in setting up the tour and acommodating me even though my request was on short notice. I saw everything I expected and then some. Not only was he very konwledgeable about the Ancient Rome and its history in Hungary, on top of that hes very nice, well spoken in german and english, and loves to share about the topics he knows about - even beyond the scope of the tour, so i came away with a few more ideas on what else to do in my time in Budapest. Will for sure reach out if I am around again!

Tiberius is great!
Tiberius was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the subject, clearly excited and enthusiastic about the tour. This tour is a must for anyone interested in Roman history. That said, there is a fair amount of walking. I logged 6K so wear comfortable shoes and clothes.

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Budapest Roman Heritage Sites Aquincum Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Budapest.
How much does Budapest Roman Heritage Sites Aquincum Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $71 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Budapest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Budapest Roman Heritage Sites Aquincum Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Budapest is not rushed.
Is Budapest Roman Heritage Sites Aquincum Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Budapest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Budapest Roman Heritage Sites Aquincum Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Budapest Roman Heritage Sites Aquincum Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Budapest Roman Heritage Sites Aquincum Private Tour?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Budapest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Budapest and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Budapest Roman Heritage Sites Aquincum Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Budapest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Budapest?
+
On Outty we rank every Budapest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Budapest City Landmarks Walking Tour in 2 Hours, Countryside Half-day Gastro-Wine Tour from Budapest Meal & pickup, Budapest free walking tour: Parliament and Shoes Memorial. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Budapest?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Budapest?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
