Location changes are not updated in the app- beware!
This company changed the location of where the boat was docked, but they did not update it in the app. All of the communication leading up to the boat tour indicated that we would be at Margaret island dock 10, including in an email reminder the day before the tour. On the day of the tour, I was relying on the information in the app and email that told me to go to dock 10. The app directed me to dock 10, and the address linked me to dock 10 as well. But the boat was not there. I eventually discovered that there was one last minute message sent through the app on the day of the tour that indicated a change in location to Dock 8 in a totally different area, but it was too late. We missed the tour. Although I recognize that things like this happen and a company may be required to change location, I was extremely frustrated and disappointed with the way this was handled. When we eventually found the correct dock (30 minutes late) - the person there was extremely rude and condescending. He constantly blamed me for not knowing the company moved location. When I showed him the app was still indicating that we needed to be at Dock 10, he just shrugged and continued to blame us for going to Dock 10. He said we should have figured it out and that it wasn’t his fault. Rather than offering to allow us on a different tour time, he told us we would have to pay for another tour all over again. (There is no way I’m giving more money to this company that doesn’t even acknowledge when their communications led us to the wrong place!) When I contacted the company through the app to let them know what happened, they were equally dismissive of the problem. No offer of a refund, and no apology. So if you take a chance on using this company, just be aware that they may not be at the dock that they have advertised and linked everywhere in the app. You may end up walking through the streets of Budapest instead of riding on a boat tour. And they will still take your money.

Iconic buildings turned off
Nothing to say about the cruise, it was correct, without luxuries as stated on the page, now, regarding the fact that they had all the official buildings turned off at 9:00 PM when it was already dark, I thought it was terrible on the part of the Budapest government, I don't know if it was because it was Sunday or due to some technical failure, which made the cruise feel lackluster....
Response from the operator: We do not provide the illumination of Budapest. Recently they introduced energy saving measures, your favourite search engine will help you in checking the current state.

awful experience.
This was a terrible experience. There are so many better boats to choose. Way more than 70 people on boat, its a wonder we didn't sink. too too many people. no seats available. everyone scrambling for a space. awful awful awful. Spoke to a representative on board, asked if we could get off and take another boat, but in any case the boat was just setting off by this point. But she just said, she wasn't in charge, its a big company! have written to customer services, but don't expect any response there. Please don't take this trip. If it is your only time in Budapest, it's so sad to have this experience.
Response from the operator: You have never participated on our cruise. A we neved had 70 pax, always less, b the boat has still a much higher capacity, so there are even still plenty empty seats.

A great trip - check for the bridge pier 10Name!
Pay attention to the name of the bridge where you find pier 10 as there are multiple pier 10’s!!!! I only saw PIER 10 and walked from the hotel to the nearest one. Nope - it was two more bridges and 20 min by Uber away! We made it with only 2 min to spare and weee the last on the ship. It’s truly no frills-captain was in flip flops, stained T shirt and despite a sign saying no more than 20 on top - everybody was on top! No life jackets info….truly no frills but the right price and tickets were available last minute!

Magical Moments on the Danube
Great views of both sides of the river. Boat is very comfortable and staff was amazing. I did the 8:30 tour and caught sunset and nightime exposures.
Response from the operator: Happy that you enjoyed, hope you'll do again later this year.

Why this scores 53
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Budapest: No-frills Sightseeing Cruise downtown (d8): questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Budapest.
How much does Budapest: No-frills Sightseeing Cruise downtown (d8) cost?
+
Prices start at $15 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Budapest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Budapest: No-frills Sightseeing Cruise downtown (d8) take?
+
Plan for about 0.8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Budapest is not rushed.
Is Budapest: No-frills Sightseeing Cruise downtown (d8) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.3/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Budapest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Budapest: No-frills Sightseeing Cruise downtown (d8)?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Budapest: No-frills Sightseeing Cruise downtown (d8) suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0.8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Budapest: No-frills Sightseeing Cruise downtown (d8)?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Budapest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Budapest and add a light layer if any part of the 0.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Budapest: No-frills Sightseeing Cruise downtown (d8) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Budapest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Budapest?
+
On Outty we rank every Budapest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Budapest City Landmarks Walking Tour in 2 Hours, Countryside Half-day Gastro-Wine Tour from Budapest Meal & pickup, Budapest free walking tour: Parliament and Shoes Memorial. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Budapest?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Budapest?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
