Highlight of visiting Budapest
Cooking with Marti was one of the highlights of my visit to Budapest. Starting with meeting her at the Central Market where she walked us through to teach us about the foods of Hungary. As a professional chef she demonstrates just how extremely knowledgeable she is about the foods of her country.. She explains the history of how meats, fish, spices, fruits, vegetables and wines/liquors are prepared and enjoyed in Hungary. Afterwards we were brought to her kitchen where we helped to prepare a traditional Hungarian meal and enjoy local wines. All of which were fabulous!!! If you have an evening free during your visit this is a MUST!!
Response from the operator: I’m so grateful for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience! It makes me very happy to know that the Budapest Local Market Tour and Hungarian Home Cooking Class stood out as one of the highlights of your trip. It was such a pleasure to meet you at the Central Market Hall and share more about Hungarian food, culture, and local ingredients — from the meats and spices to the wines that make our cuisine so special. Cooking together and enjoying a traditional Hungarian meal with local wine is always the best part of the experience for me, and I’m thrilled you loved it too. Your kind words mean a lot — thank you for taking the time to share your experience and Thank you again for joining my Hungarian home cooking experience in Budapest!🇭🇺✨

Professional Cooking lesson with Marti - a personalized experience!
We were in Europe for 2 weeks and visiting the Budapest grand market and cooking with Marti was the highlight of our trip! I would give our experiences with Marti a 10 out of 5 if I could - it was that great! I say experiences because the day before, on the last day of our Tauck Danube River Cruise we serendipitously made Langos with her as part of our tour. The next day we made Chicken Paprika, a Farmers’ Plate, and drank local wine in her home kitchen after touring the market with her. Marti is very personable and shared parts of her and her family’s personal journey through the transition from Russian occupation to present day Hungary - since we were curious. We wish we had more time to stay in Budapest because there are more cooking lessons in addition to the Chicken Paprika that she provides. Btw, the chicken dish was AMAZING and if you do the cooking class, she shares her secrets and provides recipes.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful and heartfelt review! I’m truly delighted that the Market Tour and Hungarian Home Cooking Class in Budapest was the highlight of your European trip. It was such a pleasure to meet you first during the Langos cooking experience on your Danube River Cruise, and then to welcome you into my home kitchen for the Chicken Paprikas and farmer's plate with local wine. I’m so happy you enjoyed learning about Hungarian food, culture, and local life in Budapest, and I truly appreciate your curiosity about Hungary’s history and traditions. Sharing these stories and recipes is always a joy for me. Your feedback and kind words mean so much to me — thank you for taking the time to share your experience here. I’m very grateful, and I hope to cook with you again next time you visit Budapest! 🇭🇺🥰

Must do in Budapest
Marti was lovely, experienced and an excellent teacher. In addition to learning how to cook Hungarian food -- which she made very doable -- she shared a lot with us about her life and her country. A highlight of our 5 days in Budapest.

Why this scores 73
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Budapest Market Tour & Hungarian Cooking Class with Chef Marti: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Budapest.
How much does Budapest Market Tour & Hungarian Cooking Class with Chef Marti cost?
+
Prices start at $90 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Budapest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Budapest Market Tour & Hungarian Cooking Class with Chef Marti take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Budapest is not rushed.
Is Budapest Market Tour & Hungarian Cooking Class with Chef Marti worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Budapest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Budapest Market Tour & Hungarian Cooking Class with Chef Marti?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Budapest Market Tour & Hungarian Cooking Class with Chef Marti suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Budapest Market Tour & Hungarian Cooking Class with Chef Marti?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Budapest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Budapest and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Budapest Market Tour & Hungarian Cooking Class with Chef Marti start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Budapest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Budapest?
+
On Outty we rank every Budapest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Budapest City Landmarks Walking Tour in 2 Hours, Countryside Half-day Gastro-Wine Tour from Budapest Meal & pickup, Budapest free walking tour: Parliament and Shoes Memorial. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Budapest?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Budapest?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
