    About this experience

Discover one of Florence’s most important Renaissance treasures with a visit to the Brancacci Chapel inside the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine. Often described as the birthplace of Renaissance painting, the chapel is renowned for its fresco cycle by Masaccio and Masolino da Panicale, later completed by Filippino Lippi. Admire masterpieces such as Masaccio’s Expulsion of Adam and Eve and discover the innovative use of perspective, light, and human expression that influenced artists, including Michelangelo. Your experience also includes the Sala della Colonna, home to rare sinopias and early Renaissance fresco fragments that reveal the techniques used to create these masterpieces. Depending on the option selected, explore the Brancacci Chapel with a guide in a small group or enjoy the visit independently with an audio guide. A must-see Florence art experience for anyone interested in Renaissance history, Italian art, and the masterpieces that changed Western painting forever.

Great, once we found our guide

Once we got started, our guide was fantastic. However, the instructions on where to meet were incorrect. There were only 6 people on the tour and we were all wandering around the Piazza del Carmine looking for the guide. I finally went into the church complex and found 3 ladies in the ticket office. When I told them that it’s after 2:00 and no one in the tour group knows where to meet, they just said to wait outside. Within a minute one of the 3 ladies comes out and started the tour. It would have been nice to have better instructions on where to meet or have the guide out looking for her group once it was tour start time. Our time in the chapel was cut short since we started late. Another group came in and forced us out before our guide finished her presentation.

Response from the operator: Good Morning from Caf Tour & Travel, Dear Customer, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re pleased to know that, once the tour began, your guide made the visit to the Brancacci Chapel engaging and insightful, highlighting the beauty of the Early Renaissance. We appreciate your note regarding the meeting point instructions and timing; feedback like yours helps us fine-tune the organization of our tours. Even with the delayed start, we hope the artistic power of the chapel left a lasting impression. It was a pleasure welcoming you to Florence, and we hope to see you again soon for another cultural experience in the city. Warm regards from Florence!

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Florence and add a light layer if any part of the 0.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Florence?

    +

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Florence?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Florence?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
