Reliable, professional and friendly staff. High recommend their services to everyone.

An unforgettable tour in East Java with friendly and helpful drivers Mr. Agung in Yogyakarta and Mr. Mull on our Mt Bromo and Kawah Ijen leg of the journey. As two female travelers we felt safe and completely at ease with them. Mr. Agung was knowledgeable and took the time and patience to satisfy our curiosity by answering our questions. Mr. Mull put us at ease as we were nervous about climbing Mt Bromo and Ijen. Very happy with the professionalism of Smartine and would definitely use their services again.

Response from the operator: Dear valued traveler, Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience with Smartine! We're thrilled to hear that Mr. Agung and Mr. Mull provided exceptional service, making you feel safe. We're grateful for your trust in Smartine, and we're looking forward to welcoming you again on another adventure! Best regards, Smartine Team

    Once in a lifetime experience!

The tour was very well organised with clear communication with Lita from Smartine and the drivers throughout the entire trip. Both our drivers (Agung in Yogyakarta and Mull for the rest of our trip) were very kind and spoke good English. They were open to share any knowledge/experience they have to gain a better understanding of the culture and way of life in Java. During the hike at Kawah Ijen, we had Lily as our guide who knows a lot about the mining environment and conditions, which made it very insightful. In conclusion, we loved the tour every step of the way!

Response from the operator: Dear our Valued Traveller, Thank you very much for your detailed and thoughtful 5-star review. We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed every aspect of your tour, from the clear and seamless communication with Lita and our team to the kindness and professionalism of Agung and Mull. It’s wonderful to know that their knowledge and willingness to share insights helped you better understand the culture and way of life in Java. We’re also delighted that Lily’s guidance at Kawah Ijen provided a deep and informative perspective on the mining environment and conditions, making that part of the tour both fascinating and meaningful. We truly appreciate your kind words and recommendation, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for another unforgettable adventure in Indonesia. Warm regards, Smartine Team

Response from the operator: Dear Anne, Thank you for choosing Smartine as your travel partner during your visit to East Java. 😊 We are very happy that you enjoyed this tour and very understanding of the natural situation of Ijen which is closed by following an alternative program. Best experience and tour guides!

We had an amazing time during our tour! The agency was super helpful, they added sunrise at Borobudur temple and drop off at the end of the tour in Ketapang harbor (ferry to Bali included) on our request. We spent one day with Agung in Yogyakarta while visiting the temples and the rest of the time in Malang and on mount Bromo with Didik. They're both super nice, friendly and qualified. They also speak a really good English so we had great conversations about local history and culture during our trip. Unfortunately Ijen was closed due to volcanic activities but the agency gave us immediately different new options to choose. We decided to visit Baluran National Park and we didn't regret it! We totally recommend this tour and agency!

Response from the operator: Hello, thank you for sharing your travel experience with us. We are glad you enjoyed the trip even though we had to change your plans because Ijen was closed when you visited :) We look forward to your next reservation to go to Ijen. Can't miss it! Best regards, Smartine Team

    Great trip!

Amazing experience to get to explore the most beautiful places of Java. Truly something you don't want to miss. Great to have your own driver/tour guide during the entire trip. We had Dodo as our driver, who was super kind and made us feel very safe during the trip. Would highly recommend!

Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Yogyakarta?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Yogyakarta?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
