My mum and I had a...

My mum and I had a wonderful time cooking with John! There was another large group that we were supposed to be with that cancelled a few days before, so it just ended up being the two of us, but we still had a lot of fun! We visited on a Sunday so there was no market tour as it is closed, but we honestly didn't feel like we missed anything. We started with some lovely Spanish charcuterie and local wines, made our own sangria, and made the paella. After dinner, John served us a lemon gelato with mint glaze on top. Delicious! After the class we received the recipe in our emails so we can (try to) make it ourselves at home. John was a wonderful host and teacher. We would definitely recommend this class to others!

    Amazing!

What an amazing experience! The chef was amazing and we got to experience hands on how to make paella and sangria. It’s definitely worth adding this to your list!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Lauren! We are delighted to hear that you had an amazing time and enjoyed the hands-on aspect of the class, including the paella and sangria. The best way to learn is by doing. Thank you for your recommendation.

    Excellent Adventure!

The chef John was really excellent! The atmosphere was also very contemporary and classy. There was an accident the caused no taxis to be able to get to our ship for two hours after we docked, so my husband and I had to walk over 90 minutes in the heat (got in over 15,000 steps), but it was worth it in the end. I was texted asking where I was when we were about 20 minutes late as we went to the Viator address of the market (really a door near it with some sign that made it seem like we were victims of a hoax, especially as the number Viator had for this resulted in a “scam likely” message telling us to hang up, so Viator needs to correct their info); on Sundays, you meet directly at the cooking class location, and I had that in my phone calendar, but was unfortunately using the Viator app ticket to direct us. Anyway, they waited for us to arrive before starting to cook (others had chopped fruits for the sangria and veggies for the veggie paella), and we lucked out in having two delightful couples to take this class with. John served us cava as soon as we sat down, and there were already tapas on the table. It was all just so relaxed and also informative (like I learned not to use orange juice in white sangria, not that I ever had, but it is interesting to know it just isn’t a good idea). John and his assistant just couldn’t have been nicer. It was a great experience for celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary!

Response from the operator: Athena, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It sounds like that refreshing glass of cava after 15,000 steps must have hit the spot. We will be investigating with Viator to understand what they provided, so we can help prevent another customer from having the same issues, thanks for raising that. We are delighted to read that you still had a fantastic 40th wedding anniversary. We always try to mix fun and education, so we’re glad that came through in your class. John will be so happy to read this, thank you for sharing your experience!

    John was a wonderful...

John was a wonderful chef, guide and teacher. Kept the session lively and fun. The market place was unique. The cooking class was held in modern kitchen with AC (important in August) .

Response from the operator: Thanks for joining us! Our market tour definitely separates us from the competitors, and we’re so glad you enjoyed it. Haha, the feeling of relief when you get back to the AC in the location and met with a refreshing welcome drink before the work begins! Thanks for leaving a review!

Boqueria Market Tour, Paella Cooking Class, Sangria & Tapas: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Barcelona.

How much does Boqueria Market Tour, Paella Cooking Class, Sangria & Tapas cost?

    +

Prices start at $118 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Barcelona usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Boqueria Market Tour, Paella Cooking Class, Sangria & Tapas take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Barcelona is not rushed.

Is Boqueria Market Tour, Paella Cooking Class, Sangria & Tapas worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 292 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Barcelona, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Boqueria Market Tour, Paella Cooking Class, Sangria & Tapas?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Boqueria Market Tour, Paella Cooking Class, Sangria & Tapas suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Boqueria Market Tour, Paella Cooking Class, Sangria & Tapas?

    +

Around 102 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Barcelona can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Barcelona and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Boqueria Market Tour, Paella Cooking Class, Sangria & Tapas start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Barcelona within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Barcelona?

    +

Barcelona's Gaudí sites are capacity-limited and the official timed tickets go first, so most of the market is resellers with a guide attached. We weight those heavily on whether the guide is an architecture specialist. Beyond Gaudí, the tapas crawls in Gràcia and the Montserrat day trips carry the highest rankings in the city. On Outty we rank every Barcelona experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Gràcia Tapas and Vermouth Crawl, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel & Cliff Jump from Barcelona, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel, Cliff Jump & lunch Small Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Barcelona?

    +

May, June, September and October. Sagrada Família light is best mid-morning. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Barcelona?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
