Our next stop is the historic Myndos Gate, one of the few remaining parts of the ancient city walls of Halicarnassus. Built during the reign of King Mausolus in the 4th century BC, this gate once served as the western entrance to the ancient city. It is best known as the site of one of Alexander the Great’s legendary battles during his conquest of Asia Minor. Today, visitors can walk among the ancient ruins, see the remains of defensive towers, and imagine how the city once looked more than two thousand years ago.
