Columbus Park Discovery Bay The town of Discovery Bay is where you will find Columbus Park. It was originally named Puerto Seco “Dry Harbour” by Christopher Columbus in 1494 when he and his men landed on the Island. It is said that could not find fresh water to drink. They later found fresh water in another area about 5 miles west of the town. The water was so good that they named the location where it was found Rio Bueno (“Good River”). However, the town of Puerto Seco was later renamed in 1947 to Discovery Bay because Discovery Bay is where the Spanish, lead by Christopher Columbus landed when they invaded the Island on May 4, 1494. There is a park with several old relics and artifacts on display. There will be a brief stop to take photos and capture the rich history of this historic town.

You’ll be picked up from your Montego Bay hotel or vacation rental in an air-conditioned minivan or bus. On the way to Nine Miles, you’ll pass by Rose Hall Great House and Greenwood Great House. Enjoy a quick stop at Rio Bueno for picture taking pass by Columbus Park. The village of Nine Mile is located deep in the St. Ann countryside and is reached through a series of scenic winding rural roads. Nine Mile is a very small village consisting of several modest homes. At Nine Miles, a Rastafarian guide will lead you around Bob Marley’s childhood home, Mt. Zion, the Ethiopian Church where he was laid to rest, and his final resting place. You’ll also have time to browse the gift shop on-site. Your tour concludes with drop-off back at your Montego Bay accommodations.

Highly Recommend!!!
Our Bob Marley 9 Mile Tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Jamaica! From start to finish, the experience was informative, inspiring, spiritual, and even emotional at times. Learning about Bob Marley's life, upbringing, and lasting legacy gave us a much deeper appreciation for the man behind the music. A special shout-out to our transportation driver, Navar, who was absolutely outstanding. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared fascinating information about Jamaica's history, culture, and landmarks throughout the journey. His passion for his country made the drive just as enjoyable as the destination itself. The road to Nine Mile includes winding mountain roads and can be a bit rocky, but Navar handled the drive professionally and safely, making us feel comfortable the entire time. The tour fee was very reasonable at around $35 USD, making it an excellent value for such a memorable experience. If you're visiting Jamaica, I highly recommend taking the Bob Marley 9 Mile Tour and booking your transportation with Premier Tours and Taxi. The best company to book 9 mile tour
Nevar !!! Where do i start ? If you come to Jamaica you MUST book with him he is the best . This is coming from some one who is hard to please i was very impressed ! Nevar was our tour Guide to Nine mile and we were blessed to have this experience with him. He was on time , very professional dressed very well and clear in what you requested. He made sure me and my husband was picked up on time from our hotel - we stayed at the Adults only Rui Montego Bay. He drove us from our hotel he got us complimentary beef patties which was amazing . He then drove us safely through all the hills and parish it took to get there his vehicle was very clean provided cold water for us and good music and vibes . Everything you want when In Jamaica . It’s a lot of twist and turns and hills but he maneuver the road perfectly it was about 2 n a half hours to get there . Every stop like when we use the bathroom and to get patties half way through he walked with us and made sure we were safe ; especially in a country you are new too . When we finally got to the museum he made sure we were safe and guided us in to the group view the museum which had a group of others there also about 20 people. He waited for us the whole tour which was about and hour . Then drove us back safely to our hotel . We were so pleased we stopped to get something to eat again at authentic Resturant Peppa’s together . Nevar is a VIBE his laugh is contagious and he will also talk to you and you learn history about Jamaica. It’s truly a beautiful experience with the tour and him Guiding us an experience definitely one we will never forget get . Ensure to bring dollars for tipping and supporting local business and people along the way as this is important to keep the beautiful Jamaica thriving . 9 Mile Bob Marley Tour with Premier Travel and Tours
Pick up was on time and great communication from Navar, from Premier Travel and Tours. The drive was about 2.5 hours from the resort in Montego Bay. Navar showed us and explained places of interests on the way to, and stopped by this picturesque place for photo ops. Anyone who has ever been to 9 Mile Bob Marley place, can attest to the hair raising drive up there in the mountains. Thanks, Navar, for the careful and experienced driving up to the mountains, and the complimentary beef patties (by far the best ever had) on the way back. The tour was so good. Seeing where the legend himself was born and laid to rest is so humbling and a worthy experience. The tour guides are very knowledgeable with the tour experience delivered with so much fun and humor, never a dull moment. Now, can we talk about the live band that entertains you as you’re about to enter the mausoleum? Exceptional! Got us all dancing and forgetting how hot and tired we were.😊 This is an experience I would recommend for anyone that visits Jamaica, and with Premier Travels.
