What you'll see and do
Runaway Bay
This tour takes you through one of the most popular towns on the Island. Runaway Bay is naturally beautiful and is certainly one of the most scenic areas in Jamaica. It sits between the beautiful, crisp coastline to one side and the lush green mountains to the other. There is much debate as to how the town of Runaway Bay got its name. some people believe it got the name because that is where the last batch of Spanish soldiers ran away from when they were retreating from the attacking British Troops lead by Governor Ysassi right after the 1655 British invasion of Jamaica, while other argue that it was the point from which the Slaves from inland plantations used as an escape route to runaway to Cuba. Get your cameras ready to go as you make your way through this area.

Nine Miles
Bob Marley was born on February 6th, 1945. He died on May 11th, 1981. Visiting this small town is a priority for all tourists, cruise ship and stopover passengers alike from Ocho Rios, Falmouth, Montego Bay and from as far as Negril in the west. Nine Miles is a tiny village in hills of St. Ann where the reggae legend, Bob Marley was born, and fittingly, the place he’s now laid to rest. Although Bob Marley moved to Kingston at age 13 to live with his mother and to advance his music career, he would often return to Nine Miles to get away from the fast pace life of Kingston. Home is where the heart is and Bob Marley wrote several of his hit songs when he was in St. Ann. Nine Miles Jamaica was always his home and to have the full experience of Bob Marley; you will have to visit this town. A tour of this settlement will leave you with a greater understanding of the legend Bob became; in fact, the community today is pretty much how it was in Bob Marley’s early days. A Rastafarian tour guide will be on hand to guide you around the property and answer all your questions. Still present, is his first home and the very bed he slept in as a young child also as an adult when he would return on his many “cooling out” visits. The rock that he used as a pillow, on which he would relax. Quite a few guests have said that they have felt the presence of Bob Marley. The Nine Mile Tour includes his birth and resting place, what he liked to do and Mount Zion, the spot where he drew his inspiration from to write his songs. Visit the nearby Ethiopian church where his body was laid to rest with his guitar. Please remove your shoes before you enter as a sign of respect. Feel free to look around. At the end of the tour you will be taken back to your hotel.

Unacceptable...NEVER using this app again!!!
First time in Jamaica. Scheduled excursions ahead of time through Viator. First excursion was supposed to be the 2nd day of trip & our 2nd excursion was scheduled for our 3rd day. The day of our arrival i received a notification asking if I could change the date of my excursion (which I could not, that's why I booked in advance...HELLO) due to not enough people...but was also told in the same email that this is NOT a cancellation. On the day of our 1st excursion, sitting in lobby waiting for our guide about 15 min before the excursion start time, proceed with pulling up my virtual ticket, and then at that moment see it says REFUNDED. No call, no email or text cancelation, no notice. So here I am thinking I'm going on my excursion through Viator, but nope. BEST ADVICE....GO TO THE AMSTAR DESK IN LOBBY. THEY HAVE SAME EXCURSIONS AND...THEY CAN FIND YOU A PRIVATE DRIVER. WE PAID $150 FOR DRIVER, WHO TOOK US 9 MILE (SCENIC DRIVE), KFC IN BROWNSTONE, AND STOPS AT LOCAL SHOPS. YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR ADMISSION TO 9 MILE, BUT FOR A PRIVATE DRIVER (WHO WAS FUN, KNOWLEDGABLE, CHILL, AND JUST A REALLY GOOD DUDE), YOU CAN DO THE EXCURSION & MORE CHEAPER!!!! VIATOR....YOU NEED BETTER TOUR PARTNERS AND BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! NEVER AGAIN & I WILL BE SHARING MY EXPERIENCE ABOUT VIATOR.

Bob Marley's Nine Mile Day-Trip with Admission & Guided Tour from Runaway Bay: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Runaway Bay.
How much does Bob Marley's Nine Mile Day-Trip with Admission & Guided Tour from Runaway Bay cost?
+
Prices start at $145 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Runaway Bay usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Bob Marley's Nine Mile Day-Trip with Admission & Guided Tour from Runaway Bay take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Runaway Bay is not rushed.
Is Bob Marley's Nine Mile Day-Trip with Admission & Guided Tour from Runaway Bay worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Runaway Bay, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Bob Marley's Nine Mile Day-Trip with Admission & Guided Tour from Runaway Bay?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Bob Marley's Nine Mile Day-Trip with Admission & Guided Tour from Runaway Bay suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Bob Marley's Nine Mile Day-Trip with Admission & Guided Tour from Runaway Bay?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Runaway Bay can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Runaway Bay and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Bob Marley's Nine Mile Day-Trip with Admission & Guided Tour from Runaway Bay start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Runaway Bay within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Runaway Bay?
+
On Outty we rank every Runaway Bay experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Sightseeing Tour in and Around Ocho Rios, Blue Hole and Bamboo Rafting Ocho Rios, Jungle River Tubing and Beach Adventure with Transportation. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Runaway Bay?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Runaway Bay?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
