We pick you up from the main street closest to your hotel around 09:30 am and move towards Çamlı Bay, where we will board our boat. This bus / minibus journey will be approximately 30 minutes.

The point where our boat is located. After all our transfer vehicles arrive, our boat departs at 10:00 am and we set out towards Cleopatra Island (Sedir Island). Step aboard your comfortable boat and admire the views as you leave land behind and cut over the blue-green waters of the Gulf of Gökova to Cleopatra Island.

We anchor at the island around 10:30 am. Our guests who wish can purchase the entrance ticket to Cleopatra beach, which is offered for sale on our boat. Guests who do not want to go to the beach can spend time on our boat. We stay on the island for two and a half hours. You can visit many ancient city ruins or swim and sunbathe on the magnificent Cleopatra beach. We leave the island around 12:30 - 13:00 and set off again with our boat. One of a trio, this famous islet (also known as Sedir Island) is home to a beach where, according to legend, Egypt’s pharaoh queen, Cleopatra, bathed with her lover Mark Anthony, sometime in the 2nd century BC. The story goes that Anthony ordered the sands from Egypt as a gift to his mistress — a tale perhaps borne out by the present-day sand. Made up of tiny, smooth seashells, it’s of a type that typically only hails from the Red Sea. Swim and snorkel in the crystalline waters, polish your tan, or stroll to the Roman ruins that lie nearby.

Disappointing, poor food and overpriced
Local pick up was good as well as transfer. Boat was big and spacious, but lack lielows, but just have the mats directly on the floor which was awkward. The view was good. The lunch was utterly unpalateable. We were told chicken, pasta and salad, which was correct. However, the pasta was the only passable bit, being spaghetti. The salad was limp and tasteless. The chicken was the worst, being mechanically reconstituted chicken paste formed into a steak and covered in breadcrumbs. The sort of stuff the worst cheap chicken nuggets are made from. The drinks option did not have any sugar free options other than very strongly stewed tea. Alcohol was available at extra cost, but we took our own as we know from other boat trips that this can be about £3+ a can once onboard. The boat and staff were pleasant enough and one actually gave us that knowing smile when he saw we had refused to eat the meal. There is an £11 charge on top of the already expensive boat trip to actually enter Cleopatra Island. This must be paid for either on board or at the gate. It is the same price either way you do it. The Island itself is pretty average and good if you like ancient ruins, which I do as an archeologist myself. The main beach that a big thing is made of felt very contrived and purely constructed for the benefit of the tourists. The bay is pleasant though and nice for a swim. Is it worth the money? Only you can decide. I get that the entrance fee helps to support the local archeology but it does feel a little over expensive for what it is. Most boat trips from Marmaris are generally half the cost of this trip and deliver a very similar experience, but with much better quality food, visiting lots of lovely bays but just minus Cleopatra Island which is way overhyped locally. You pay your money and take your choice, but I wouldn't recommend this trip to anybody. The local Neptune Star bay trip is half the cost and just as good, if not better.

Not the hype it’s made out to be.
Didn’t appear to be a sight if archaeological interest. Beach very small and closed off, many of the chairs were broken. That said nice for photos with the back drop of mountain range. Boat trip was all but snot 15mins from shore and boat very tired in comparison to others. So choose your boat. Really not worth it in our opinion.

My advice to you is to get information and read a book before visiting the archaeological site. The Gulf of Gokova is a bay with thousands of visitors and is often considered magnificent for its surrounding mountain scenery. It is very strange that you did not mention the bays with deep blue sea that we visited and took a swimming break on our boat tour. It is very normal for boats to look tired. These boats are wooden pleasure boats (not fiber motor yachts). I guess you don't have any complaints about the organization and other issues, your one star rating is a little less than your total review. I'm sorry if we still couldn't satisfy you. Cleapatra Castaway
A thoroughly enjoyable day. We are a group of 4 adults who recently booked this trip with Thomas Cook/Diana Travel. Picked up in open topped jeeps in Icmeler then on to Marmaris where we met up with the other jeeps. We had stops for taking photographs and the views and scenery were breath taking. We were off road a couple of times, seeing a more traditional Turkey. After a good couple of hours we arrived at our boat which was to take us to Cleopatra island. First, though, we had a really relaxing cruise around Gokova bay with swim breaks and lunch served on board. When we arrived at the island our guide from the jeep and boat tok us around the island giving detailed information about the amphitheater, the cemetery, how they collected water and in general the ancient civilisations who have left their mark there. He was very informative and explained everything very clearly. We had time to swim in lovely crystal clear turquoise water before it was time to head back to the boat. Before getting back to land and our jeeps we had another 45 minutes swim break. We arrived back to resort just before 6pm. 5 stars to Thomas Cook/ Diana travel and the guys on the jeeps and boat.

Beautiful but very busy!
We booked this trip through our Thomas Cook rep. It included 'jeep safari' drive through the mountains which went off road and was lots of fun, covering us in lots of dirty road dust! Including stops at various points up the mountains to take in the amazing views of the scenery, great photo opportunities and a sight not to be missed! Saw some crazy big red ants too.... then we took the jeeps down to the harbour where we got on our boat, 'The Joly Sailor' (with one 'L'!) this was a lovely relaxing sail across the gorgeous Agean Sea. We stopped for a swim break in the crystal clear turquoise waters, warm gorgeous sea, such fun! They supplied floats and life jackets for those who wanted, whereas the thrill seekers were able to jump off any deck of the boat into the sea! You can choose to sunbathe on the upper decks on comfy loungers, (remember your towel though as the plastic gets super hot) or you can sit downstairs in the shaded area where we were given our lunch. Lunch was lovely, it consisted of a chicken in breadcrumb piece (like a big chicken nugget) spaghetti pasta and salad, plus their lovely bread. Then we had watermelon for dessert. when we got to Cleopatra Island, we were given tickets and helped through the turnstiles. It was very busy here. The children had to go in separately from the adults. But our guide helped us through with no issues. Obviously the actual beach is cordoned off as it is a protected site - the sand was apparanlty brought over from Egypt by Marc Anthony for Cleopatra! If you wish you can go and visit the ancient ruins that are on the island, or you can stay at the beach area, where wooden rickety sunbeds are supplied. You can rent cushions if you want but only here for an hour and half and not on the sun lounger the whole time so not worth it. Expensive to buy food/drink on the island. We brought ours from our boat. The area around the beach is dusty and rocky but this time they have changed the access into the sea by adding a wooden decking area and steps that lead into the sea. (Last time we came 2 years ago, you got to the sea by climbing down the rocks so it's a bit easier now.) The sea is crystal clear and warm, absolutely lovely to bathe in. We had a lovely time here. However, you can see hundreds of people coming onto the island the entire time and it's only a small island so it becomes very busy and crowded, as does the sea, which is a shame. But still a lovely place to come and see, take in the history and the story of the island. We have now been here 4 times and would come again!
