Use these people for a seamless trip
Excellent all around. 4 seniors on an 8 day gravel bike tour of puglia. Pickup/ greeting/bikes / routes/ hotels every aspect of the trip was dialed in. Here is the most important piece, any time there was an issue they were immediately on it. Responsive , kind , everything you would expect and more. As an example I left clothes in one hotel. They tracked them down; communicated with the hotel; arranged transit to a hotel 80 k away and all for no charge. Want a great experience use these people

9 day Self guided Puglia bike Tour
The routes were excellent in small roads and bike paths. Excellent value for the price. They added an extra day to the trip at a good price. The bikes worked great!

Beautiful but arduous, recommend for older families
Relatively easy to book—but our status was ‘pending’ for awhile. The bike shop required our heights to ensure they had the properly-sized bikes available. Once we were confirmed, we were given an address for the office, in the modern part of the city. The office staff were quite helpful and walked us a bit of a ways (3 blocks?) to the bike shop. All four of our bikes were waiting for us, tagged with our names and contact information for the shop/owner/travel center. We got a briefing on bike mechanics, and were told to download one of two bike trail apps. This was a bit complicated/confusing as not many of the bike shop people spoke English. And we weren’t super-familiar with the apps, which added to some frustration. Once we settled on a route, which we were assured was ‘easy and flat,’ we set off. The route we chose (the lake/crypt) took us through city streets (think: traffic and pedestrians and roundabouts), eventually lead us into the countryside, which was beautiful, if not very remote. Very few cars, people, homes. We passed a cattle farm. It was hot. We had water, but not near enough. Not much shade on this route. The app did not stay open. If you are hoping to see a map the entire ride, you won’t. It does provide audio cues, though. Be sure your volume is turned up. There were lots of hills, the lake was stunning. We had a fall and flat and needed to walk our bikes. We called the number and WhatsApp’d our tour provider, but didn’t get a response for some time. Eventually, we were in contact and they were able to send a transport for pick up, which was an additional fee but worth it. I would not recommend this route for anyone less than 16 years old, ideally over 18. It is not ideal for young families. One should have a good sense of bike riding and road safety. The scenery is beautiful.
Response from the operator: Dear Leslie, Thank you for your review. I'm sorry that you didn't find some things easy though. The booking arrived less than 24 hours before departure, so the confirmation was subject to our approval/availability. We responded as soon as possible. When Viator support informed us of the fall from the bike, we tried to contact you on the number we had, it was not active. We had to call Viator support again to request another phone number. This tour to the lake is one of the most requested by our customers. As you also described very well, the nature is beautiful and uncontaminated. Unfortunately the traffic is not dependent on our will, but Matera is a small city and it was a short stretch. As for the application, for those who are not familiar with it, there is the possibility of requesting the paper road vbook. The application we use is one of the most used globally, but like all applications it requires a bit of familiarity. I'm sorry that you found it difficult to use it. We hope to see you again in Matera to discover other routes with us. Thanks again and see you!
