Great experience and fantastic customer service
We highly recommend a visit to Appian Way, it's wonderful to immerse in history and a good to get away from the city centre as part of your trip. Very happy with the service we got from Bicycle Roma, they accommodated a last minute change in schedule due to bad weather and sorted us out when we had a problem with one of the bikes. Great value for money all round.

Beautiful ride down the Appia would have been better with better bikes
This was our 4th time renting bikes in Italy and definitely the worst experience so far in terms of the bikes themselves. The bikes we all got are "conversions" (normal bikes with mounted batteries and replaced hub motors, no where near as good as real e-bikes). It was immediately obvious that these bikes get HEAVY use, of the e-bikes we rented in Italy these clearly were the highest mileage with the least smooth ride and all were in need of some kind of maintenance. We returned and change out several bikes because one had an issue with the derailleur and kept shifting off the chain, and another the power assist kept jerking the bike. The bikes themselves have no baskets, water-bottle holders or any way to store anything while you ride. The checkout point itself doesn't have wifi and so it made it challenging to complete the waiver on site with cell issues. Also, the teen who rented us the bikes sent us to the wrong direction and we biked for a long time before realizing there was no way to get into the aqueduct and ruins park the way we went (once again, I couldn't pull up google maps due to cell issues, not their fault but a map or something would have been good). The Appia itself is beautiful and extremely bumpy, be warned, unless you go on the dirt sides off-road which was fun but definitely would be hard for anyone less confident on a bicycle or with reduced mobility. Overall we're glad we did it and enjoyed riding along ruins was an amazing experience. This place did heavy business all day, I encourage them to use some of that profit to upgrade their bikes, add basic things like a basket or way to hold a water bottle, and printed maps of the sites.

We are truly sorry if these options were not clearly presented to you during check-in; we are already training our team to be much more proactive at the counter. For stability and safety on the bumpy ancient cobblestones (sampietrini), all-terrain e-bikes do not use traditional front baskets, but our attachable bike bags are designed specifically to carry water bottles and personal items safely whenever requested. Furthermore, our mechanics have already thoroughly inspected the derailleurs and motors on the rental units you mentioned to ensure every bike runs smoothly. We truly appreciate your feedback as it helps us perfect our front-desk communication. Touring the Appian Way
We had a good time seeing the Roman country side with our guide Daniella. We saw the aqueducts and the Appian way as well as through the mountain paths.
