    What you'll see and do

    1. Guided horse tour of a traditional Hawaiian Ahupa'a. The tour begins at WOH Ranch, a working livestock ranch and farm operation sharing exclusive views of enchanting Hamakua. This scenic opportunity allows travel through a traditional land division (Ahupua’a) that stretches from the mountain to the ocean and is home to native flora and fauna. Surrounding gardens radiate fertility as you drive alongside fishponds full of Hamakua sunfish on your tour. Dwarf coconuts, breadfruit trees, kukui nut, sugar cane, taro, sweet potato and multiple varieties of heirloom bananas are just some of the plants you will see before riding alongside the historic Hamakua ditch. Our WOH Ranch Tour is ocean-bound; taste salt on the wind and hear waves pound against the sheer cliffs while we cruise under a canopy of ironwood trees near remnants of old Hawaiian settlements. At the ocean, we kick back and relax for a short break to appreciate the stunning Hamakua coastline. On a clear day you can see Maui!

Highlight of our visit, laid-back vibe, spectacular views, includes exotic fruit samples

Highlight of our visit to the Big Island, laid-back old Hawaii vibe, spectacular views. Historic ranch, now with many experimental fruit tree plantings and samples available. We did a 2-hour morning ride through varied surroundings. A real trail ride, but with gentle horses that can accomodate any experience level. Just an hour from the Kona Coast resorts but a different world!

Response from the operator: Highlife of your big time on the island. You experienced a great mountain to Ocean property. Appreciate your review come back soon

    Hawaii on Horseback

This is by far, the best horseback ride I’ve been on. The horses are well trained and very responsive to directions. The rope harnesses without metal bits show humane and kind treatment and the horses are happy! The guide was very experienced and knowledgeable about the ranch, animals and plants. The ride through the ranch is spectacular and we even saw wild horses. We will definitely return!

Response from the operator: Best horse ride you’ve ever been on is quite a compliment. Yes we have great guides great horses and a beautiful scenery to tour. Please come back soon.

Is Big Island Waipio on Horseback: Mountain to Ocean Views suitable for kids and families?

Summit tours have real altitude rules, so we weight safety detail. On Outty we rank every Big Island of Hawaii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Big Island: Captain Cook Snorkel On A Power Catamaran With Lunch, KONA Manta Ray Night Snorkel - FREE re-ride if no Sightings, Big Island in a Day: Volcanoes Waterfalls Sightseeing and History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Big Island of Hawaii?

    +

April to October, though the island runs year round. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Big Island of Hawaii?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
