    About this experience

This is Hawaii's most in-depth chocolate experience. Our 1.5-hour chocolate tasting and our 3.5-hour guided farm tour at Honolii Orchards are both led by experts in the craft chocolate industry and offer an immersive journey through the world of cacao. 3.5 hour farm tour guests will walk the orchards, explore every stage of production—from harvest to post-harvest processing—and learn how chocolate is made. No question goes unanswered; the tour adapts to your curiosity, offering a collegiate-level, educational experience shaped by your interests. The 10+ bar tasting is also included. 1.5 hour chocolate tasting guests will experience a condensed tour entirely in the tasting room focused on the 10+ bar chocolate tasting and a brief overview of cacao horticulture with much less time for questions. Outing with my grandson

Fantastic experience! I went with my grandson for his first excursion of third grade. He’s home schooled, and we are locals. So we are fussy about tour experiences. This was a very welcoming atmosphere. Our hosts were friendly and knowledgeable. The tastings were very flavorful. Our group had several families with a variety of ages, and everyone was accommodated for levels of curiosity.

    Informative, fun and yum!

We were looking for something to do on our last day on the island and this was the perfect choice. Jude and April were incredibly nice and also knowledgeable. It was evident that the people working at the farm really care about the process and the products. The tasting was very extensive and fun. The way they run it is interactive and overall just a really good time. We arrived a bit early and went overtime on the tasting a bit, so the total time we spent at the farm was close to 4 hours.

    great experience!

I wanted to try a fresh chocolate pod, different varieties of the final product, and learn how they grow. I got all these wishes met and learned a lot about life in hawaii and farming and all kinds of interesting stuff. Jess and Jude were excellent - charming and knowledgeable. There were some annoying children children on our tour and I was really impressed with how they were kind and tactful while managing to keep everything going smoothly. The chocolate was also delicious.

    Great tour!

This was an even better tour than I had hoped for. The 2 young men leading the tour were personable and friendly. They were also surprisingly knowledgeable about the entire cacao to chocolate process as well as the industry in Hawai’i. We tasted 14 different types of chocolate and got to see the trees first hand. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves chocolate and/or has an interest in Hawaiian agriculture.

Big Island: Craft Chocolate Tasting and Farm Tour in Hilo: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Big Island of Hawaii.

How much does Big Island: Craft Chocolate Tasting and Farm Tour in Hilo cost?

    +

Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Big Island of Hawaii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Big Island: Craft Chocolate Tasting and Farm Tour in Hilo take?

    +

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Big Island of Hawaii is not rushed.

Is Big Island: Craft Chocolate Tasting and Farm Tour in Hilo worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 82 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 109 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Big Island of Hawaii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Big Island: Craft Chocolate Tasting and Farm Tour in Hilo?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Big Island: Craft Chocolate Tasting and Farm Tour in Hilo suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Big Island: Craft Chocolate Tasting and Farm Tour in Hilo?

    +

Around 38 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Big Island of Hawaii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Big Island of Hawaii and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Big Island: Craft Chocolate Tasting and Farm Tour in Hilo start and how do I get there?

    +

What are the best things to do in Big Island of Hawaii?

    +

The Big Island is volcano country: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park tours, Mauna Kea summit stargazing, night manta ray snorkels off Kona, Waipio Valley lookouts and coffee farm visits. Summit tours have real altitude rules, so we weight safety detail. On Outty we rank every Big Island of Hawaii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include KONA Manta Ray Night Snorkel - FREE re-ride if no Sightings, Big Island: Captain Cook Snorkel On A Power Catamaran With Lunch, Big Island in a Day: Volcanoes Waterfalls Sightseeing and History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Big Island of Hawaii?

    +

April to October, though the island runs year round. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Big Island of Hawaii?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
