The visitor center is only 30 minutes away from Almaty by car." Ayusai" is translated from the Kazakh language as "bear gorge", because of the brown Tian-shan bears that once lived here. Evergreen trees create coolness in the summer heat, and with each step more and more new views of mountain peaks and rocky cliffs open up. In some places you can find small streams, which adds a special charm to the atmosphere. When you get closer to the waterfall, the sounds of the water become louder, and you will have a stunning view: clear streams of water rapidly fall from the cliff, creating a soft cloud of splashes that sparkle in the sun. Big Almaty Lake
The tour to Big Almaty Lake was an amazing experience! Kazakhstan’s nature is absolutely breathtaking, with stunning mountains and beautiful landscapes. Everything was well organized, and the whole trip was comfortable and enjoyable. Special thanks to our guide, Karima, who was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. She made the experience even more memorable. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Almaty!

Worth it!
Giving five stars because the Lake element of the trip (which is what I visited for) was fantastic. We arrived in the first car and got some great shots before the wannabe influencers arrived! The no hike option is ideal- the walk up looked long, arduous and the way some people drive potentially dangerous. The rest of the tour was fine- the first stop is a named a gorge but I didn’t see! I think the principal reason for stopping here is to use the restrooms and get refreshments. The next gorge was fine but please note the ‘no hike’ part of the trip is just for the Lake. There is some steep walking and steps but on a constructed ramp/ steps so easier than ‘off- roading’. The pick up point is advertised as a hotel but I never saw it and actually finding the tour wasn’t easy as there was no stand or obvious place to convene, we found the guide simply by asking. We arrived for what we thought was a a 06:00 departure but we never got moving until 06:20. Tour advertised as 6 hours and we were back in the city just before. Would recommend.
