Don't waste your money
The guide walked 25 yards ahead of our group and did not provide much information about the area. The first stop was for sushi at a great sushi (stand up) restaurant and was very authentic. It was an extremely hot day and the guide said he would try to maximize being indoors. He walked us in circles up and down the same streets showing us what he perceived as the most economical store in the area. He then took us to an observation deck to look out over the city. After that he took us to a Japanese coffee shop where we were only offered tea or lemonade. After that we went to a Korean steak house (where we were offered all you can eat, low quality meats). We were told that we could only have a choice of vanilla ice cream or Macha ice cream (excluding the other 4 desserts). He threw the meats on the cooking surface, not letting us do the cooking and cooking all the meats at the same time. He did not offer us beverages until we asked for ice water because we were so overheated. I asked to stop at a Boba Tea shop so I could purchase beverages for my family. He constantly had us stop to take pictures in the hot sun so he would have proof that he walked us around Shibuya. Avoid this tour at all costs!!! This tour is not worth half the price charged.
Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent tour. We appreciate the opportunity to address your comments, as they provide us with valuable insights. We were taken aback by your review, as it does not fully reflect the experience we aim to provide nor the overwhelmingly positive feedback we generally receive from our guests. Our Shibuya walking food tour is thoughtfully designed to balance cultural exploration with authentic dining and guest comfort. On the day of your tour, our guide made adjustments to the route to ensure your comfort, prioritizing shaded areas while still completing the entire itinerary. This is supported by both the photos you captured and our own records from the tour. We are proud to take our guests to well-regarded sushi and Japanese BBQ restaurants that are favorites among both locals and visitors. The sushi venue you visited is celebrated for its high quality, and the BBQ restaurant offers a unique experience where guests can cook their meats — which you were invited to do. Additionally, our guide thoroughly explained the dessert and beverage options available, allowing everyone the freedom to make their own selections. The photos taken during the tour depict our guide actively engaging with you and ensuring that you were having a memorable experience. We also noted some discrepancies in your review regarding the tour's execution. Your comments about the guide "walking in circles" and "not offering beverages" do not align with our records and photo documentation, which confirm that we adhered to the planned itinerary, provided multiple beverage choices, and even accommodated a special request for a boba tea stop. The images further illustrate your participation and enjoyment throughout the tour, including during the cooking segment. Our guide is widely recognized for his professionalism, respectfulness, and commitment to providing a positive experience for our guests. We are confident that the detailed records and photos from your tour reflect the quality of service we aim to deliver and highlight our dedication to ensuring that every guest enjoys their time with us. We appreciate your understanding, and we hope you’ll consider providing us another opportunity to showcase the exceptional experiences we strive to create. Warm regards, Nour Washoku Club Culture and Food Team

Incredible experience with our guide Naoto!
We had a remarkable experience! Our guide Naoto got in touch with us right away and it was very easy to find him at the meeting point. He took us to see places underground that we would have completely missed and he ordered delicious selections at all three places we visited. We also walked through many places that helped us find great food the remainder of our vacation. I highly recommend doing this tour early on in your vacation as it will show you wonderful places you will not want to miss out on.

Sadly our experience on...
Sadly our experience on this tour was decidedly ordinary - especially considering the price. Our guide barely spoke English, and walked us around and around in circles seemingly wanting/needing to kill time. Would not recommend.
Response from the operator: Hello We apologize for the tour not meeting your expectations and thank you for sharing your feedback. This tour is usually highly rated, so we will investigate what went wrong. Our goal is to provide every guest with an unforgettable experience and the chance to discover hidden gems in Japan that they can't find by themselves and try the best quality of Japanese food. Please contact us at info@Washokuclub.com to discuss this further. We appreciate your input and value the opportunity to improve our service.

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Best Shibuya Private Food Tour Tailored to Your Taste By Guide: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.
How much does Best Shibuya Private Food Tour Tailored to Your Taste By Guide cost?
+
Prices start at $99 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Best Shibuya Private Food Tour Tailored to Your Taste By Guide take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.
Is Best Shibuya Private Food Tour Tailored to Your Taste By Guide worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Best Shibuya Private Food Tour Tailored to Your Taste By Guide?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Best Shibuya Private Food Tour Tailored to Your Taste By Guide suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Best Shibuya Private Food Tour Tailored to Your Taste By Guide?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Best Shibuya Private Food Tour Tailored to Your Taste By Guide start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tokyo?
+
Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tokyo?
+
Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tokyo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
