Firefly migration
Samantha was wonderful. We did a custom firefly migration tour. I think I drove her crazy with questions and changes. She was very gracious throughout. We had a fabulous time. The fireflies put on a great show too. Thank you!!😊

Great guide, fun day
We booked a private guide for our first look at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Mike was our guide and he did a great job. His knowledge of the park and wildlife really added to our experience. Having him drive us around and share information about the area and the people was great. We viewed and hiked several areas including Cades Cove, Middle Prong Trail and Abrams Falls. Overall we hiked 6 miles that day which was perfect for us. We saw and learned about things that most people don’t because of our guide. I really wanted to see a bear and Mike promised we would and we saw 6!! Highly recommend this company. Get out on the trails!!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the fantastic review! We really appreciate is and are so glad you had fun with Mike!

Informative and fun guided hike
Such a reasonable price for such a cool walk along the river in the Great Smoky Mountains. Our guide, Mike, was extremely knowledgeable about plants, survival tips and history of the area. He took lots of group photos of us ladies. He told us tons of funny stories and took us to Huskey Waterfall, which I’d never been to. It was a great day in the woods! I’d recommend A Walk in the Woods guides, especially Mike, to anyone that is visiting the Gatlinburg, TN area!!
Response from the operator: What a great review! Thank you so much. We hope to see you again. Be sure to request Mike if you want him next time!

The Best of Both Worlds: Hiking and Shuttle Bus Tour
A Walk in the Woods customized our tour to suit our needs. Our guide Kels was highly experienced, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain how the Smokey Mountains came to be and even offered other local attractions to visit once our tour ended. I am looking forward in booking more hikes and retreats with A Walk in the Woods
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the fantastic review! We look forward to hosting you again in the future!

Best of the Smokies: Full-Day Private Guided Adventure: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
How much does Best of the Smokies: Full-Day Private Guided Adventure cost?
+
Prices start at $325 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Great Smoky Mountains National Park usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Best of the Smokies: Full-Day Private Guided Adventure take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Great Smoky Mountains National Park is not rushed.
Is Best of the Smokies: Full-Day Private Guided Adventure worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Best of the Smokies: Full-Day Private Guided Adventure?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Best of the Smokies: Full-Day Private Guided Adventure suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Best of the Smokies: Full-Day Private Guided Adventure?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Great Smoky Mountains National Park can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Great Smoky Mountains National Park and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Best of the Smokies: Full-Day Private Guided Adventure start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Great Smoky Mountains National Park within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Great Smoky Mountains National Park?
+
Great Smoky Mountains National Park draws visitors for its landscapes, wildlife and guided outdoor experiences. Outty tracks every bookable tour here, scores it with the Outty Ranking, and shows what is worth your time, from full-day guided trips to short scenic outings. On Outty we rank every Great Smoky Mountains National Park experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 3-Hour Nantahala River Fully Guided Rafting Experience, Chasing Waterfalls: A Smoky Mountain Guided Hike, Self-Guided Audio Driving Tour in Great Smoky Mountains. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Great Smoky Mountains National Park?
+
Late spring through early fall for full access and the widest tour availability, with quieter trails in the shoulder weeks. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Great Smoky Mountains National Park?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
