    Hamburg HOHO Bus

Great way to see the top sites in Hamburg. Finding the bus stop initially was a bit challenging but was able to communicate with the bus company who helped us get to the nearest stop.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the tour and found it a great way to see Hamburg’s main sights. We’re sorry that you initially had some difficulty finding the bus stop. However, we’re very pleased that, after contacting the bus company, you were quickly directed to the nearest stop, located right near the cruise terminal, allowing you to join and enjoy the tour. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope you had a wonderful time in Hamburg!

40 minute walk to starting point

Once in port we went to the tickets to see where the redemption point was. It was a 40 minute walk one way. I messaged the tour operator and Viator to see if there was a closer starting point. We got a closer location about 2 hours later, but we had already left the ship WIFI. We never got to go on the tour and were refused a refund. This could have all been resolved if the website listed all allowed starting points or there was someone to answer questions before the 9:52am starting time. I think this tour is poorly run.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you ultimately did not take part in the tour, but we would like to clarify a few important points, as the information necessary to join the tour was provided with the booking. The booking information clearly states the official ticket redemption and starting point at Landungsbrücken, Brücke 4, how to exchange the voucher, the name of the operating company (HANSE STADTRUNDFAHRT), a description of the orange-yellow double-decker buses, and the departure times. We deliberately recommend Landungsbrücken, Brücke 4 as the official starting point because intermediate stops can occasionally be affected by roadworks, demonstrations, traffic restrictions or temporary route changes in Hamburg. The main departure point is therefore the most reliable option for our guests. The other stops along the route can also be found on the operator's website. Regarding your message, we received it at 7:07 a.m. It was seen at 10:24 a.m. and we replied immediately after seeing it, specifically trying to provide you with a more convenient solution. We informed you that, depending on your cruise terminal, Marco-Polo-Terrassen or Westfield Überseequartier could be much closer alternative boarding points. It is also important to clarify that 9:52 a.m. was not the only opportunity to take the tour. The buses operate throughout the day with regular departures, approximately every hour. Therefore, when we replied at 10:24 a.m., there were still later departures available and sufficient time to reach one of the suggested stops and take the tour. For this reason, we do not believe there was a lack of information or an unwillingness to assist. In addition to the detailed information already provided with the booking, we responded as soon as the message was seen and tried to offer alternative boarding options closer to your location. Regarding the refund, the original request concerned one participant who was unable to attend. As the request was made within 24 hours of the tour, the booking conditions no longer allowed a partial cancellation or a reduction in the number of participants. The ticket nevertheless remained valid and could have been used by another participant. We understand that the situation was frustrating and are sorry that you ultimately chose not to take the tour. However, we feel it is important to clarify that the official meeting point, ticket redemption procedure, operator details and departure times were provided in advance, and that after receiving your message we also made every effort to provide a practical alternative so that you could still participate.

    Vague at best

Didn't stop at all stops marked on map, seemed to be random. Stops not clearly sign posted at stops. Live commentary in German only was completely lost on non German speaking tourists. We were lucky to remember were bus had stopped as no signage shown. We have been on HOHO in Munich,Nuremberg, Dresden & Berlin this was by far the most disappointing tour.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that the tour did not meet your expectations, and we would like to take this opportunity to clarify a few points. Some stops are currently temporarily unavailable due to roadworks. In addition, our Hop-on Hop-off service operates similarly to a regular public bus: passengers wishing to get off should press the stop button. If no passenger requests the stop and nobody is waiting to board, the driver continues along the route. Regarding the signage, all of our active stops are marked with the name “Hanse Stadtrundfahrt”. We would also like to clarify that the commentary is not available only in German. German commentary is played through the bus speakers, while several other languages are available via headphones. These are provided upon request. If no other language is requested, our staff may understandably assume that the German commentary is suitable. We are sorry that this information was not sufficiently clear during your experience, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify how our service operates.

    Not as extensive or clear...

Not as extensive or clear experience. Having to go to pier 4 to have the voucher changed to tickets was not a value added feature. The seats on the bus were worn and not very comfortable.

Response from the operator: Dear customers, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that the experience did not fully meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that we currently recommend boarding at Pier 4 (Landungsbrücken) because construction works, demonstrations, events, and other temporary disruptions can occasionally affect some stops along the route. Starting at the main departure point helps us ensure that guests can board smoothly and receive assistance from our staff if needed. We would also like to note that exchanging a voucher for a ticket is simply an internal procedure and can be done at any stop where our staff is present; it is not restricted to Pier 4. Regarding the seats, we appreciate your comments. Our vehicles are regularly inspected and maintained, but we will review your feedback with our operations team to ensure that the comfort and condition of our buses continue to meet our standards. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Best regards

    Hoped on stayed on.

We hopped on and never hopped off. Great narrative with headphone translation well timed to the things we were seeing and other great info to fill the gaps between sights.

Response from the operator: Dear Customers, Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a wonderful review. We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed our tour. Best regards,
