Everyone managing the pace fine, though it is a long day
Getting off the ship, pickup was straightforward, no confusion about where to meet, and they kept and eye on the clock so nobody was stressing about getting back before the ship left. That took the pressure right off, which matters when you're squeezing two cities into one port day.

Do not book this tour
DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR THROUGH VIATOR! When we booked, we were told the meeting point was the cruise port. Upon arrival, we discovered that the meeting point had been changed, but we never received the notification because we had no service on the boat. We spoke to the tour agent twice, and both times we were told they were not the provider and that we needed to call the number on our booking. This was frustrating and left us trying to sort things out ourselves. To make matters worse, we later realized the receipt we were given showed a total of €78 for two people, yet we paid $442 CAD through Viator. Save yourself the money, time, and frustration. Consider booking directly on the day instead of paying a huge markup through Viator. Based on our experience, I would not recommend booking this tour through them.
Response from the operator: Please take a closer look at the Meeting and Pickup section of this tour description, which clearly states the following: “We will be waiting for you OUTSIDE the cruise terminal. Please take a port shuttle from the pier.” Please note that the pickup point for all independent shore excursions, including those provided by Viator suppliers, is designated by the port authorities OUTSIDE the port. To follow these easy instructions, you simply had to take the port shuttle from the pier and proceed to the designated pickup location, where we successfully collect hundreds of cruise passengers daily. However, for some individual travelers, for reasons unknown to us, this simple mission somehow becomes impossible. If you are new to Viator and have difficulty reading or understanding the tour description and pickup instructions, please feel free to contact Customer Care for their personal assistance. The crowd was a mix, couples, families, a few groups of friends. Everyone seemed to be managing the pace fine, though it is a long day. The team handled the arrangements well, timings were fine, no stress about getting between the two cities.

Cities without the hassle
They loved the street performers near the Duomo and discovering small shops along they way, but Florence was more for us adults. We made frequent stops, and the coach had WiFi. Lots of bathroom breaks, which are crucial when dealing with children.
