About this experience

Experience the history of the Troubles told by a local guide who seen the war through his own eyes.Every city has it’s shopping and coffee culture but Belfast city has a unique past after coming out of 30 years of conflict. Your guides are the original drivers who had to transport their communities through the bullets and bombs of THE TROUBLES and have their lives at risk every time they seat in their black cabs. The North of Ireland has become famous for the murals painted in almost every area of the country . These pictures of IRA ,UVF murals are often flashed around the world on news bulletins or used as a backdrop when interviewing people. They were used as a tool to exhibit the history and political views of their community and were used as a method to mark their territory. These wall paintings often look intimidating but they have become as much of a tourist attraction as many of the regular attractions within Belfast and beyond.

Insightful and real

Probably the most insightful- and chilling, tour we have ever done anywhere. We felt privileged that our guide had so much personal experience he was willing to share with us. Not your usual tourist affair.

Black Taxi Tours/Brendan was great!

Black Taxi Tours was great! We learned a great deal about the political history of Northern Ireland. The vehicle was clean and safe and our guide, Brendan, was fantastic. You should ask for him. Don’t go to Belfast without going on this tour!

Great tour with Ricky

Six of us had a fantastic tour with Ricky last Saturday. He was very knowledgeable and gave us a better insight into the history of 'the Troubles'. We had wanted to do this tour for some time and we weren't disappointed. It was excellent. Thank you Ricky.

Wow, what a tour!

An exceptional tour with Brendan who was above and beyond. We’ve been to Belfast many times and love our Irish history - but we still learnt lots more thanks to Brendan. Picked up exactly on time from our hotel with a text from Brendan when he was outside. No problems at all. Stress free! The tour was at a steady pace and we certainly didn’t feel rushed. Plenty of time to ask questions and brilliant explanations. Great fun too with plenty of laughter and craic. Our 13 year old son was in his element. Booking via the website was efficient and easy and the pre and post booking support via WhatsApp and email was prompt, efficient and friendly. A very professional and highly efficient company. Messages were responded to promptly and helpfully. All in all the title says it all….. what a tour! Thanks so much Brendan and blacktaxitours.com

Black Cab tour

This was a tour recommended to us. We are so very glad to have done it. We had the AMAZING Brendan. His depth of knowledge was incredible. He took us on a journey to the past and provided a non-biased view of a world that was uncertain and violent. He explained the Peace Gates still close at night, even today. The wall that separates the Catholics from the Protestants is still there. The murals, the Peace Wall the headquarters of Sinn Féin... all were visited. Brendan explained each one and the part they played. Key historical sites were visited on the Protestants side as well, so a very balanced tour was provided. Brendan answered every question we had. He constantly asked if we were ok and we asked if he was OK too. You will hear some pretty harrowing stories that occurred during The Troubles. Highly recommend this tour, and I hope you get Brendan! He's a legend!

Belfast Famous Black Taxi Tour Political Murals & Peace Wall 2 Hr: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Belfast.

How much does Belfast Famous Black Taxi Tour Political Murals & Peace Wall 2 Hr cost?

+

Prices start at $84 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Belfast usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Belfast Famous Black Taxi Tour Political Murals & Peace Wall 2 Hr take?

+

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Belfast is not rushed.

Is Belfast Famous Black Taxi Tour Political Murals & Peace Wall 2 Hr worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 71 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Belfast, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Belfast Famous Black Taxi Tour Political Murals & Peace Wall 2 Hr?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Belfast Famous Black Taxi Tour Political Murals & Peace Wall 2 Hr suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 9. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 2-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Belfast Famous Black Taxi Tour Political Murals & Peace Wall 2 Hr?

+

Around 25 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Belfast can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Belfast and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Belfast Famous Black Taxi Tour Political Murals & Peace Wall 2 Hr start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Belfast within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Belfast?

+

On Outty we rank every Belfast experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include A History of Terror - Belfast City Centre Walking Tour, Belfast Troubles Tour: Walls and Bridges, Giants Causeway and Castles from Belfast: Guided Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Belfast?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Belfast?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
