Water Great Wall at Huanghuacheng
We will pick you up from your downtown Beijing hotel for a direct drive to Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a relaxed three-hour hike along various sections, exploring ancient watchtowers and beacon towers while admiring the scenic landscapes. Nestled in Huairou District about 60 km from central Beijing, Huanghuacheng is known for its unique "Water-Great Wall" where stone ramparts meet serene waters. Built in the Ming Dynasty under General Cai Kai, it once guarded the capital and imperial tombs. Its striking feature—three segments diving into and re-emerging from the lake—was created by a 1970s reservoir that partially flooded the structure. After the visit, we will return you to your Beijing hotel.

Wonderfoul experience at The Great Wall!
Li Li was absolutely wonderful and made our private tour of the Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall a truly memorable experience. From the very beginning, she was extremely kind, attentive, patient, and professional, and we felt very comfortable with her throughout the entire day. What we appreciated most was how knowledgeable she is. She explained the history of the Great Wall, its cultural significance, and many fascinating details in a very clear and interesting way. We also asked her many questions about China in general, Chinese culture, everyday life, traditions, and different curiosities, and she was always happy to answer everything in detail. Her English is extremely fluent, which made communication very easy, and she has a great ability to explain things clearly without ever making you feel rushed. She was incredibly patient with all our questions and genuinely seemed to enjoy sharing her knowledge and her country with us. We highly recommend this private tour, and especially recommend doing it with Li Li. Having such a knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and professional guide made a huge difference to the experience. If you want not only to visit the Great Wall but also to really understand its history and learn much more about China along the way, Li Li is an excellent guide. Thank you so much, Li Li, for such a fantastic day!

Wonderful day, top experience
The experience was amazing! The host provides you all the informations needed. The driver, Mr Guo is so nice and helful. He pick up in front of our hotel in Beijing, drive us to the great wall and wait for us with no limit of time. The huanghuanchen section of the wall was very calm, there was few people. If you want to walk on the wall it's challenging cause the hot temperature and the tallest stairs I've ever seen! Anyway you can decide where it's your limit and stop there.

Mr. Guo was very helpful...
Mr. Guo was very helpful and kind to my friend and I. We went to the Mutianyu Night View destination, and he waited for us until late in the night, and carried our bags for us, walking up the mountains.

Amazing experience of a Wonder of the World
This was quite the adventure! So, after looking up the "best" places to see the great wall, I saw this recommended a few times and decided to add it to the list. I will say the town and the lake seem to be undergoing some construction and look like it is being made into a resort area perhaps. We ended up taking what seemed like a back route to the wall, and fair warning, it takes a bit of an adventurous person and someone okay with climbing a little bit. However with all that said, what you are rewarded with is an experience you will not get at any other trip to the great wall. My guide was Mr. Guo, and was a super happy, friendly, and helpful person 100%. He even climbed with me to the top portion assuring I was okay along the way and helping me if needed. He waited at the top part and let me walk along the wall by myself and waited for me at the top. I was the only person there and it was a surreal experience to walk along this wonder of the world in total peace and serenity with just the sounds of the birds and seeing the picturesque view of the wall snaking along the majestically green mountain ridges for miles in each direction. It was exactly what I had hoped for to truly appreciate a wonder of the world and how incredible it was. So, while it may not be for everyone I can say that if you think you might like it then you are in for an amazing treat. Oh and bring good shoes as the wall can be a little slippery if it had rained. Also, I wasn't sure about booking it because there were no reviews. However, as it turns out this Jenny's Guide service is actually really awesome. For example, today I could not find a tour for what I wanted and Jenny arranged one for me last minute. She is super helpful and responsive! I am very thankful for this experience and the help of Jenny and Mr. Guo and hope that it helps other travelers out there like me to help achieve their traveling dreams :) <3.

Why this scores 75
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Beijing: Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.
How much does Beijing: Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Beijing: Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.
Is Beijing: Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Beijing: Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Beijing: Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Beijing: Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall Private Tour?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Beijing: Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Beijing?
+
On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Beijing?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Beijing?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
