Wonderful place
"The entry to the Forbidden City was reserved. It was OK." It was like additional service and it works very good. We only paid the tickets.

See the Great Wall of China on your Beijing layover. Ask for tour guide Roma and you will be happy.
Seeing the Great Wall during our layover was priceless, but the real human connection that came from our guide Roma will leave the most lasting impression. We just spent 6 weeks traveling around SE Asia. We’ve done our fair share of tours, done it on our own, struggled through language barriers and had a few personal helpings of scams and “darnit” moments. We decided to trust the universe and we booked a random online tour for a quick trip to the Great Wall of China during our 10 our layover in Beijing. We were tired, the airport was confusing and we walked out of the baggage claim thinking maybe this was a poor choice..... until Roma our tour guide greeted us with his genuine nature and happy go lucky approach. In a flash we were off in his car driving to The Great Wall. Roma explained the history of the structure, he spoke of China and her history as well. He taught us about Chinese culture and people.... and he did it all as if we were old friends who hadn’t seen each other in a few years. It’s hard to find a genuine tour guide.... being tour guides ourselves we understand and empathize with the hustle and burnout. Roma is a true diamond in the rough, and we would highly recommend asking for him to guide your trip (no matter what it is). Thank you Roma! Thank you China. Thank you Asia. Thank you life. Live while you can, and give thanks while you live. 🙏 -Elaina and Thyatira Thompson

Layover tour in Beijing
The tour was great! Easy instructions were given after landing. My driver was waiting with sign, drove a while to meet my guide. He was friendly. We headed to Forbidden City, spent time walking around and taking pictures. Restrooms are avail. After, went to Great Wall at Mutianyu which was far and seemed less populated. Arriving, decided to eat lunch with many dietary options (I am plant based whole foods). I was able to visit a Jade store and seen how jewelry is made from the stone. I bought a Jadeite bangle and a small jade elephant. Proceeded to Great wall riding the gondola lift. We took our time to enjoy walking around and photos. The guide allows a generous time frame. Toilet avail. Meeting back up I experienced the toboggan. So much fun! We had delicious tea then decided to go to a Tea house for tea tasting. This was nice if you're into tea like me. Fast forward, my guide was dropped off 1st and my driver dropped me off 4 hr before flight with plenty of time to go through security and eat dinner. My luggage situation- I checked in my luggage the flight before for a continuous transfer to my next flight. I did not want to carry entire day. Overall, this was an awesome experience however, certain months extremely cold. I requested coats and was not able to happen. Please check weather prior for appropriate attire.

We had a great tour. Everything went according our plan, pick-up and drop-off from the airport. We had enough time to look around. Thanks to our tour guide Edward! Peter

Highly recommend!
We had a long layover in Beijing, and this was an exceptional way to get out and see a beautiful part of China! Our guide, Edward, was extremely knowledgeable and kind. We received excellent instructions about navigating the airport, and met up with Edward easily. We toured the Mutianyu Great Wall and had lunch at an awesome local and authentic restaurant.

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Beijing Airport Layover Tour to Mutianyu Great Wall: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.
How much does Beijing Airport Layover Tour to Mutianyu Great Wall cost?
+
Prices start at $88 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Beijing Airport Layover Tour to Mutianyu Great Wall take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.
Is Beijing Airport Layover Tour to Mutianyu Great Wall worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Beijing Airport Layover Tour to Mutianyu Great Wall?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Beijing Airport Layover Tour to Mutianyu Great Wall suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 7-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Beijing Airport Layover Tour to Mutianyu Great Wall?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Beijing Airport Layover Tour to Mutianyu Great Wall start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Beijing?
+
On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Beijing?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Beijing?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
